The baitula mosque in Yining was built in 1773 (the 38th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong), also known as "medris". There is a crescent moon on the top of the temple, and a new temple with Islamic style is built beside it.
Historical evolution
The baitula mosque in Yining was built in 1773. It became a dangerous building in 1995. With the approval of Yining Municipal People's government, it was rebuilt in the original site. Except the gate tower, it was demolished. The gate tower was listed as a cultural relic protection building at the autonomous region level.
Scale system
The architectural style of the temple is typical of the gate style of the Central Plains in ancient China. The bucket arch cornice is mainly made of wood. It adopts carving and painting techniques, carving beams and painting buildings, which better reflects the style of ancient Chinese Pavilion buildings. A crescent moon is added at the top of the building, which is the meticulous design of the architectural designer to position the building in the mosque, so that the purpose of the building can be identified at a glance.
