Former site of the communication office of the Eighth Route Army in Hunan
The former Communication Office of the Eighth Route Army in Hunan is located at No. 15, xuci lane, caie middle road. It is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. In October 1937, under the situation of Kuomintang communist cooperation against Japan, the CPC Central Committee sent Xu Teli and Wang Lingbo from Yan'an to Changsha to establish the office of the Eighth Route Army in Hunan. After nearly three years, Xu Teli served as the representative and senior counsellor in Hunan, and Wang Lingbo served as the director of the office.
In March 2020, it was named the fifth batch of patriotic education bases in Hunan Province by the Propaganda Department of Hunan provincial Party committee.

In March 1938, the office moved to No.2 Shouxing street. In October 1938, Zhou Enlai and Ye Jianying came to Changsha from Wuhan and lived here. After the establishment of the communication department, it actively publicized the CPC's Anti Japanese proposition and the form of Anti Japanese and national salvation, absorbed revolutionary youth to go to the Anti Japanese front line, and transferred communication equipment and medical supplies to the Anti Japanese front line. The communications department was burned in 1938 and has now been restored to its original condition. In 1972, the provincial government designated No. 15 xuci Lane (the former site of Xujia ancestral hall) as the office of the Eighth Route Army in Hunan as a revolutionary memorial site, which was renovated and opened to the outside world.
Main tasks
We should publicize the Communist Party of China's Anti Japanese policy, carry out the United Front work, promote patriots from all walks of life to participate in the Anti Japanese War, mobilize the masses to collect materials to support the Anti Japanese War, and at the same time, use the open and legal status to restore and develop Hunan Party organizations. The communication office of the Eighth Route Army in Hunan recruited 680 trainees, 2220 trainers, 65 rescue workers, received more than 20000 domestic and 20 foreign people, and received more than 50000 transshipment materials. It has done a lot of fruitful work for the Anti Japanese and national salvation movement.
