Jixingtang

Jixingtang, also known as the former site of Military Medical Department of the Fourth Red Army, is a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghang County. It is located in Bajia village, Gutian Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. Founded in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, it covers an area of 564 square meters. It is a civil structure with beams and buckets suspended on the top of the mountain. There are patios and cross rooms on the left and right sides. In December 1929, the Fourth Red Army entered Gutian, where the military medical office was located. In June 2006, jixingtang was announced as the seventh batch of cultural relics protection units in Shanghang County. In September 2018, jixingtang was announced as the ninth batch of provincial cultural relics protection unit list and protection scope

Historical evolution

In April 1928, the Fourth Army of the Chinese revolutionary army of workers and peasants was founded in Jinggangshan. While establishing military and political institutions, the Fourth Red Army established corresponding logistics institutions, including Quartermaster department, left behind department, military medical department and Ordnance Department. Bao Gang was the first director of the military medical department.

In June 1930, after the establishment of the first Red Army, the Military Medical Department of the Fourth Red Army was changed into the Military Medical Department of the first Red Army.

In June 1932, the Military Medical Department of the Corps was changed to the Ministry of health, with medical department and material department.

On June 15, 1933, the Chinese Revolutionary Military Commission issued the establishment of the Red Army's health institutions at all levels. The front army, the corps and the Division set up the Ministry of health, the regiment set up the health team, the company set up the health officer, and the division and above units also set up the health inspector system. Thus, a unified medical and health management organization from top to bottom was formed, and the Red Army's medical and health management organization system was basically perfect.

Main attractions

Jixingtang is a civil structure with beams and buckets. There are patios and cross rooms on both sides. As a member of the former site group attached to Gutian Conference, red collection exhibitions with different themes are arranged in the building.
