Cuiping mountain
Cuiping mountain, Sichuan Provincial Forest Park. It is located in the west of Yibin City, with an altitude of 504.5 meters.
The mountain is closely connected with Zhenwu mountain, covering an area of about 221 hectares, and now the green coverage area is 160 hectares. The old county annals record: bamboo and wood stand on the mountain, and the mountain is evergreen in the four seasons, so it is named Cuiping. However, during the period of the Republic of China, the trees on the mountain were completely cut down. In 1953, the state-owned forest region was established. Since 1954, it has been continuously afforestation in large areas. In 1984, it was ranked second only to Nanjing Zijin Mountain in the national urban afforestation. At present, there are 60 species of trees in 28 families, with a standing stock of 11140 cubic meters. There are 125 species of ground cover plants in 36 families, including nearly 100 species of birds, 12 species of wild animals, more than 60000 square meters of orchards and more than 7400 fruit trees. More than 150 living fossil tree ferns have been found. The mountain was turned into a park in 1958 with roads and stone steps leading to the top of the mountain. There are new tourist spots such as Baicao garden, zoo, Nezha palace, Sanyou Pavilion, Sanjiang tower, bonsai garden, children's paradise, tea garden, outdoor movie theater, Zhao Yiman memorial hall, Cuiping villa, etc. And the newly built 900 meter aerial ropeway can reach the top of the mountain from the foot of the mountain. The original historical sites, such as the Qianfo temple and the Shenxian Temple of the Ming Dynasty, have also been renovated. Due to the wide distribution of pine, fir, cypress and other trees, it has become a rare urban forest park. Thousands of people exercise in the mountains every morning, and 1.5 million visitors a year. Cuiping academy, the original historic site on the mountain, is now the "Zhao Yiman Memorial Hall" of the Anti Japanese national heroine.
Zhao Yiman, formerly known as Li Kuntai, went north to fight against Japan in 1932 and served as political commissar of the Northeast Anti Japanese joint Corps. Unfortunately, he was injured and captured in 1936, and died heroically. The memorial hall is divided into three rooms, displaying hundreds of cultural relics about Zhao Yiman's life and deeds, as well as inscriptions by Zhu De, Dong Biwu, Song Qingling, Chen Yi, Guo Moruo and other party and state leaders.
There is also Nezha cave on the mountain with a statue of Nezha inside. In recent years, believers of Nezha in Taiwan have come here to worship every year, becoming a new tourist attraction of Cuiping mountain. "Nezha Palace" was built in imitation of Taoist temples in Qing Dynasty. The palace is built close to the mountain and faces due south. It is composed of the mountain gate, Prince hall and Nezha cave on a central axis, with a construction area of 330m2. It is a double eaves and hilltop style, with small green tiles and whitewashed walls, reinforced concrete and imitation wood structure. The whole Palace is solemn and grand.
