The origin of Beiying
A brief history of its predecessor
At the beginning of the Chinese people's Anti Japanese War, after the Yan'an film group led by the Communist Party of China made the film Yan'an and the Eighth Route Army, Yuan Muzhi, the head of the film group, was appointed by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to carry all the negatives of the film to Moscow in the summer of 1940 for post production. During his stay in the Soviet Union, Yuan Muzhi visited the all Soviet National Film Academy in Moscow. He was greatly inspired by the original intention that China also needs to establish a "China's own film University" to develop the people's film industry.
With the rapid progress of the Chinese people's war of liberation, in order to meet the national liberation, cultivate and save cadres, according to the instructions of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, at that time, the Northeast film studio, the only base of the people's film industry, held four training courses for film cadres from the beginning of 1947, and trained more than 520 cadres, of which 440 cadres participated in film work and more than 70 participated in film production The army and local cultural work have been strengthened. The orientation and educational policy of these training classes have accumulated experience for the establishment of China's own film education.
After the birth of the people's Republic of China, Zhou Yang, Xia Yan, Yuan Muzhi, Chen Bo'er and other leaders of new China's film industry felt that they needed a large number of film professionals who acted as workers, peasants and soldiers and wrote about workers, peasants and soldiers when planning the transformation, construction and development of the old China's film garden. Chen Bo'er was appointed to plan and implement the project from the reality when he did not have the conditions to set up "China's own film University" for the time being. So people's film education began its initial stage. Under the leadership of Chen Bo'er, Xie Tieli, Ba Hong, Wang gengyao and others, after planning, and with the consent of the Ministry of culture, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and Premier Zhou Enlai, founded the Institute of performing arts of the film Bureau of the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China in June 1950. In the first Five-Year Plan for the development of film industry formulated by the film industry administration, there is a plan to establish Beijing Film Academy on the basis of Beijing Film School. On the one hand, the Ministry of culture sent a group of foreign students to the Soviet Union and the Democratic Republic of Germany to study film writing, film photography, film art and film engineering; on the other hand, it organized special personnel to investigate film education in the Soviet Union; at the same time, it hired Soviet film education experts to give lectures and train teachers. In November 1955, the Soviet experts B. Ivanov, B. kazansky, A. Simonov and B. antoninko presided over the lecture. Four specialized courses of director, actor, photography and production were held with the focus on the cultivation of teachers. The students were all in-service cadres from the creative and production departments of various film studios with considerable practical experience. The length of schooling was two years. At the same time, the school has equipped some teachers to assist Soviet experts in their work and study in class.
In addition to theoretical teaching, Soviet experts paid more attention to the practice of film homework during recess. Therefore, the school established the practice office on the basis of the original performance department, adding film practice equipment and teaching support. Under the guidance of the Soviet experts, the four specialized classes successively shot nine pieces of joint operation films, such as "the storm of the little white flag" and "mutiny among relatives". The actor specialized class also rehearsed the stage plays "enemy" and "the Twelfth Night". Premier Zhou Enlai personally watched the performance of the twelfth night and met with Soviet experts and students.
