Taoyaomen bridge is the third of the five bridges of Zhoushan sea crossing bridge. It is a super large hybrid cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes. Taoyaomen bridge crosses Taoyaomen waterway and connects Fuchi island and Cezi island. It is 888m long, 27.6m wide and has two-way four lanes. The bridge was started in March 2000 and opened to traffic on January 1, 2006.

Taoyaomen bridge is the third sea crossing bridge of Zhoushan Island connecting project and the second span bridge in the world. The navigation grade is 2000 tons, the navigation net height is 32 meters, the navigation net width is 280 meters, the main bridge is a double tower double cable plane semi floating system hybrid cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 580 meters, the bridge span is arranged as 48 meters + 48 meters + 50 meters + 580 meters + 50 meters + 48 meters + 48 meters, and the main tower height is 151 meters.

In China, bridges of similar scale and type are mostly built in inland river basins. In order to cope with the complex sea conditions, frequent typhoon disasters and severe marine climate corrosion, builders have implemented a series of innovative technologies.
Due to the seasonal strong wind on the island, the vibration of stay cables of the bridge is very prominent. Taoyaomen bridge adopts the vibration suppression measures of combining viscous shear damper and hot-melt double helix PE sheath to suppress the rain wind vibration of stay cables of the bridge. Due to the harsh marine climate, the steel structure of the girder is prone to serious corrosion. The new arc spraying anti-corrosion technology at that time was adopted in Taoyaomen bridge to ensure the design service life of the steel box girder. The traditional anchoring method of anchor box has some problems, such as large welding stress, difficult straightening, difficult processing, and difficult maintenance during operation. Taoyaomen bridge has successfully applied the new technology of pin hinge connection of stay cable to long-span steel box girder cable-stayed bridge for the first time in China.
The tidal current of Taoyaomen waterway is turbulent, swirling all over, and there is no overburden layer, so the working ship can not be anchored for positioning construction. The headquarters and engineering and technical personnel are applying the dynamic positioning technology of working ship without anchoring. Asphalt pavement technology of steel box girder bridge deck is a technical problem that has puzzled bridge construction circles at home and abroad for a long time. Based on the international academic achievements, the headquarters carried out technical cooperation with Southeast University, and adopted epoxy asphalt material and pavement technology for Taoyaomen bridge, and achieved success.
