Historical evolution

Early changes

On September 15, 1907, the Qing government set up the capital primary industrial school. School site: former site of Zhili school administration department, Shijin garden, Dongcheng.

In 1920, it was reorganized into the capital public vocational school. In July 1928, it was renamed as the public vocational school of Beiping special city. In January 1930, it was renamed as Beiping special municipal vocational school. In December, it was renamed Beiping municipal vocational school. In October 1932, it was changed into Beiping municipal higher vocational school.

In July 1936, Beiping Municipal Higher Vocational School of industry added civil engineering, a three-year program, which is one of the oldest civil engineering disciplines in Beijing. In 1939, it was changed to a four-year program.

On August 21, 1945, Beiping municipal higher vocational school was changed into Beiping municipal higher industrial vocational school. In 1946, the Civil Engineering Department resumed its three-year system.

On September 14, 1947, the 40th anniversary of the founding of Beiping Municipal Higher Education Institute, famous educator Hu Shi attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. In September 1949, Beiping Municipal Higher Vocational School of industry was renamed Beijing Industrial school. In 1951, Beijing Polytechnic School was under the leadership of Beijing Municipal Public Enterprise Company. In 1952, Beijing Polytechnic School was established by the mechanical department (closed in 1969).

In July 1952, the Civil Engineering Department of Beijing Polytechnic School (with road engineering and Health Engineering) was incorporated into Beijing Architecture College (Beijing Architecture College was founded in 1949 and co signed with Beijing Architectural Design Institute. Wu Han, then vice mayor of Beijing and a famous historian, was also the principal of Beijing Architecture College. He majored in architecture, structure, HVAC and electrical engineering. In the second half of 1952, the technical department of secondary school of Beijing Architecture College (formerly the Civil Engineering Department of Beijing Polytechnic School) was transformed into Beijing civil engineering school, with a three-year schooling period (changed to four years from 1955). Li Gongxia, Secretary General of Beijing municipal government, was concurrently the president. The technical department of Beijing Architecture College was incorporated into the Department of construction engineering of Tsinghua University. In 1953, it was renamed Beijing civil engineering school. In August 1958, he was promoted to a bachelor's degree and renamed Beijing Institute of architectural engineering. In January 1961, the technical secondary school was restored, and Beijing Institute of architectural engineering was transformed into Beijing School of architectural engineering. Some teachers and students of three grades formed the Department of civil architecture (then called the Sixth Department) and the Department of Chemical Engineering (Fourth Department) of Beijing University of technology.

In 1975, according to the spirit of the Central Committee's instructions, the Beijing Municipal Party committee approved the university to resume its university, Beijing Institute of architecture and engineering, and enrolled two terms of workers, peasants and soldiers (grade 75 and 76).

Beijing Institute of Architectural Engineering

In July 1977, with the approval of the State Council, it was officially upgraded to an undergraduate university and renamed Beijing Institute of architectural engineering. After the resumption of the college entrance examination, four-year undergraduate students will be recruited. In 1981, he began to recruit and train postgraduates. In 1982, it was identified as the first batch of bachelor's degree awarding universities in China. In 1984, Huairou branch of Beijing Institute of architectural engineering was established (renamed Beijing Jingbei vocational and technical college in 2002).

In 1986, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the University became a master's degree awarding unit. In 1999, it passed the Ministry of education undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation. In 2002, it was designated as the training base of urban planning, construction and management talents by Beijing Municipal Education Commission. In 2003, it was granted the authorization of master's degree in construction and civil engineering.

In 2005, it was approved as the first level master's degree authorization point. In 2006, it passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education. In 2011, it was identified as the implementation University of "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education. In 2012, "architectural heritage protection theory and technology" was approved to serve the national special needs of doctoral personnel training project, and became a doctoral personnel training unit.

Beijing Jianzhu University

In April 2013, it was approved by the Ministry of education and renamed Beijing Jianzhu University.

In 2014, it was approved to set up "architecture" postdoctoral research mobile station. In the same year, the Ministry of education named the National Graduate Employment typical experience university.

In October 2015, the Beijing Municipal People's government and the Ministry of housing and urban rural development signed a joint construction agreement, and the University officially entered the ranks of universities jointly built by the Ministry and the province.

In May 2016, the future urban design innovation center of Beijing Jianzhu University was recognized as the future urban design innovation center of Beijing by Beijing Municipal Education Commission.

In May 2017, it was recognized as the second batch of Beijing innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities by Beijing Municipal Education Commission. In the same year, it was approved to recommend excellent fresh undergraduate graduates to study for postgraduate without examination.

In May 2018, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Beijing Jianzhu University became a doctoral degree awarding unit and was approved as a doctoral degree awarding point in architecture and civil engineering. In September 2019, Beijing Jianzhu University was approved to set up a mobile post doctoral research station of civil engineering discipline. In the same month, the University's "Engineering" entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking.

In June 2020, the school of urban economics and management of Beijing Jianzhu University was established.
