Chifeng Museum
Chifeng museum is located in Fuhe street, new urban area, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It started to be built in 1958, and the old one was completed in 1987. The new one was completed and officially opened on August 8, 2010. The main project of the new building covers an area of 11000 square meters. It is a modern multi-functional Museum integrating collection, research and exhibition.
Chifeng museum displays several cultural peaks in the Neolithic age, northern bronze culture, Liao and Jin Dynasties and Mongolian and Yuan Dynasties in the form of special exhibitions, highlighting the archaeological culture, historical and cultural characteristics of Chifeng area, comprehensively reflecting the cultural characteristics of each period, forming the unique exhibition style of Chifeng Museum.
There are more than 10000 cultural relics (groups) in the museum, including 103 national first-class cultural relics (groups), 228 national second-class cultural relics (groups), and 854 national third-class cultural relics (groups). Hongshan Culture gouyun jade pendant, Hongshan culture stone carvings, Zhaobaogou culture Phoenix shaped pottery cup, Xiajiadian lower culture painted pottery, Western Han Dynasty Wangmang coin pottery model, Liao Dynasty three color Yuanyang pot, Qing Dynasty gold nanmu ashes pot, Qing Dynasty gold "ganzhuerjing" are all excellent collections, which have important historical, artistic and academic research value.
Historical evolution
In 1958, the Preparatory Office of Zhaowuda League museum was established.
In 1961, it was renamed Zhaowuda League cultural relics workstation, which is located in the middle of Yuanyuan road in Hongshan District.
In October 1963, with the approval of the former Zhaowuda league office, the Zhaowuda League cultural relics workstation was officially transferred to the local establishment, the original Chifeng City (county) cultural center was cancelled, and all historical relics were transferred to the Zhaowuda League cultural relics workstation for management. During the "Cultural Revolution", the organization was abolished and a "Mao Zedong thought propaganda station" was set up with a cultural relics group.
In 1974, the Zhaowuda League cultural relic workstation was restored with a business office and an administrative office. In the early 1980s, the cultural relics warehouse of Zhaowuda cultural relics workstation was 70 square meters, and the cultural relics exhibition room was 300 square meters.
In 1983, the Zhaowuda League cultural relics work station was renamed Chifeng cultural relics work station, and the construction of the museum was started again. In July 1987, it was completed on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The museum is located in the north of the Cultural Square in the middle of hada street, Hongshan District, Chifeng City. After the completion of the museum, the working mechanism of the original work station will be incorporated into the museum. There are cultural relics protection and management department, exhibition reception department, archaeological team, data research room, public security office, administrative office and other institutions in the museum.
On July 1, 1987, Chifeng Museum officially opened.
The new Chifeng museum construction project started at the end of 2007, and was completed and officially opened on August 8, 2010.
architectural composition
Chifeng City Museum (old museum) covers an area of 3400 square meters, 48 meters high, with three main floors and four towers. It has four corners with pointed roofs and yellow glazed tiles on the eaves. It has strong Chinese classical architectural characteristics and national style. The use area is 6800 square meters, the exhibition area is 3500 square meters, and the warehouse area is 1500 square meters.
The main project of the new Chifeng museum building covers an area of 11000 square meters, 27 meters high, with three main floors, one underground floor and an exhibition area of 4000 square meters. It is a multi-functional modern museum integrating collection, research and exhibition. The museum has four cultural relics exhibition halls, two temporary exhibition halls, a multi-functional conference hall and a supporting service area.
Venue features
The new Chifeng Museum absorbs the architectural features of Tang Dynasty and Liao Dynasty, and draws lessons from the layout techniques of traditional palace buildings in China, such as axial symmetry, master-slave order, central palace and four corner Chonglou, forming a simple and elegant, broad and powerful architectural style with Chifeng's unique historical and cultural symbol.
Chifeng Museum cultural relics exhibition design focuses on the local history and culture, from the historical development of Chifeng, extracted four wonderful periods, using the combination of cultural relics and historical materials. In terms of exhibition form, Chifeng Museum takes the historical context as the main line, takes a series of culture as the platform, relies on unearthed cultural relics, and highlights the latest archaeological excavation data and research results in recent years in Chifeng area. Combining point with area, it displays 1500 pieces (groups) of various kinds of exquisite cultural relics. At the same time, we should make rational use of sound, light, electricity and other modern display technologies and materials, and increase nearly 30 multimedia display areas: we should use large-scale oil painting combined with sound, light, electricity and other high-tech means to restore the scenes of production, life and war of the northern ethnic groups in Chifeng area, such as the shooting of King Donghu and the battle of ulanbutong, and use phantom imaging, arc screen splicing projection, audio-visual projection, television projection and other scientific and technological tools This section shows some important historical events and knowledge points, such as the alliance of Liao and Song Dynasty, the Nabo system in the four seasons of Liao Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty Princess who married Chifeng, and so on. It also adds audience interaction projects, such as drilling wood for fire, electronic book flipping, double screen conversion, multi touch and so on.

On the morning of July 15, 2019, Xi Jinping came to Chifeng museum to learn about the history of the forenoon culture protection and the history of Khitan, Liao and Mongolian culture. On the two floor of the museum, Xi Jinping watched the rap show of the classical national epic "Ge SAS Er" and spoke kindly to the inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage of "Ge SAS". Basic Display
Chifeng Museum has four basic exhibition halls. The first floor of the preface hall covers an area of more than 1000 square meters. The first exhibition hall is located on the north side of the preface hall, which is divided into three units, including passing through the ancient times, breaking the sky, and Hongshan ancient country. It mainly shows several types of Neolithic culture in Chifeng area.
The second exhibition hall shows the bronze culture of northern grassland represented by Xiajiadian lower culture and Xiajiadian upper culture. It is divided into three units, including the rise of Fangguo, Jinge TieMa, Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasties. The discovery of Xiajiadian Culture reveals the rich and colorful history and culture of the Bronze Age in Chifeng area, and shows the highly developed ancient civilization of Xilamulun River Basin in the upper reaches of Xiliao River.
The third exhibition hall shows the grassland civilization created by the great Liao Empire established by the Qidan nationality. Liao dynasty ceramics, architecture, silk fabrics, horse equipment, religious belief, coins, murals, gold, silver and jade, funeral customs and so on are important parts of Qidan Liao culture.
The fourth Exhibition Hall shows the Mongolian folk culture with strong ethnic customs and local characteristics created by the northern nationalities with Mongolian as the main body in Chifeng since the Jin Dynasty and the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty. It is divided into four units, including Chifeng in Jin Dynasty, trace in Mongolian Yuan Dynasty, marriage alliance in grassland and Mongolian customs in Qing Dynasty.

Exhibition of new archaeological discoveries in Chifeng Museum
On February 21, 2015, the exhibition of new archaeological discoveries in Chifeng museum was opened with the theme of "tasting culture and experiencing archaeology". The exhibition covers the latest archaeological findings of Chifeng Museum in Chifeng area in recent years. It is divided into three parts: qijiahongshan cultural archaeological discovery in Aohan banner, Warring States tomb archaeological discovery in Xiqiao township of Kalaqin banner, and tomb archaeological discovery of Defei of Liao Dynasty in Balinyou banner. There are more than 300 pieces of cultural relics on display until the end of June 2015.
National musical instrument Matouqin Exhibition
On May 18, 2014, in line with the theme of 2014 International Museum Day - "museum collections build a bridge of communication", Chifeng Museum and Chifeng national song and dance theater held the activity of "national horse head Qin Exhibition" to carry forward the traditional culture on the basis of their own ethnic regional characteristics. In the exhibition, the museum staff explained the history of the horse head Qin, and showed the structure and performance methods of the horse head Qin. Professional actors from the song and dance theater performed the famous music of the horse head Qin.
