Qian Zhongshu's former residence, located at No. 30 and No. 32, Xinjie lane, Jiankang Road, Wuxi City, is Qian Shengwu hall, the ancestral property of Qian family. It was built in 1923, covering an area of 2 mu, 4 / 8% and 8 mm. It is a seven Bay, three in Ming and Qing Dynasties style, and absorbs the characteristics of Western architecture. At present, except for a small part of the houses that have been demolished, most of them are basically well preserved and are few scholarly houses in Wuxi. This house was built by Qian Fu Jiong, Qian Zhongshu's grandfather, in 1923. It is a group of common folk houses with traditional style in the south of the Yangtze River. In 1926, Qian Zhongshu's uncle, Mr. Qian Sunqing, had more children. With his father's consent, he built three more buildings in the northwest corner of the backyard. Later, he built another one. Because there was a plum blossom tree in full bloom in the garden, it was named "plum blossom bookstore". Qian Zhongshu's former residence was built in 1923 by his grandfather Qian fujiong, and his uncle Qian Sunqing continued to build in 1926, covering an area of 1600 square meters. Qian Zhongshu's father Qian Jibo, uncle Qian Sunqing and their children have lived here for a long time, so they are collectively referred to as Qian's house. In 2001, Wuxi Municipal Party committee and government decided to repair Qian's House No. 30 and prepare to build Qian Zhongshu literature museum. In 2002, Wuxi Municipal Bureau of culture was responsible for the restoration of former residence and the preparation of literature museum. According to the principle of repairing the old buildings as they are and not changing the original state of cultural relics, the Qian's house has been repaired. The main building in the restored No. 30 building is a bungalow with two entrances, each with seven rooms in width; there is a patio in the middle, with one side compartment on each side of the patio; there is a Beinong in the East, a kitchen, a dining room, a firewood house in the low, and a garden in the back. Qian Zhongshu's bedroom and Qian Shengwu hall are arranged, and relevant display and furnishings are designed. Among the three rooms on the east side of the gate of the former residence, the most eastern one is the ancestral hall, and the other two are the places where Professor Qian Jibo, his father, gave lectures during his winter and summer vacation when he came home, which is called "Houdong school". When he was young, he used to read books, listen to lectures, practice calligraphy and write compositions with his cousins. A collection of essays written by Prof. Qian is named houdongshushushuji. Guanzhui Pian is widely cited for its literature, history, philosophy, aesthetics, linguistics, psychology, etc, He has cited more than 4000 Chinese and foreign scholars, more than 10000 kinds of works and great works, showing Qian Zhongshu's erudition and unique academic research methods, and won the first prize of the first National Book Award. Qian Zhongshu's former residence is located at no.30-1, xinjiexiang, Chongan District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, also known as "Qian Shengwu hall". It was built in 1923 (the 12th year of the Republic of China) by Qian Fujiang, the grandfather of Qian Zhongshu, and in 1926 (the 15th year of the Republic of China) by Qian Sunqing, the uncle of Qian Zhongshu. It covers an area of 708 square meters and a building area of 518 square meters. Qian Zhongshu, a Chinese and western scholar and great writer, spent his youth here. Qian Zhongshu's former residence is a typical group of modern Jiangnan houses. Its main building is a single storey house with two entrances. Each entrance is seven rooms wide. There is a Beinong in the East and a patio in the middle. The whole building is elegant and unique, with compact structure and obvious characteristics. The display is simple and pure, which contains the cultural atmosphere of scholarly family. Qian Zhongshu's former residence was restored in 2001. It was completed in May 2002 and officially opened to the public in October 2002. The original historical appearance has been preserved quite completely.
