Taishan University

Taishan University is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education in March 2002. It has been running higher education since 1958. Its history can be traced back to the official Normal School of Taian Prefecture founded in 1905. The campus is located in the south foot of Mount Tai, the world's first dual natural and cultural heritage and World Geopark. It is adjacent to Tianping lake, a provincial tourist resort. It has the first library named after the main leaders of the party and the state, Wanli library, which is located in the University. The campus is an ideal place for reading and studying because of its well arranged buildings, elegant environment and pleasant scenery.

The origin of the predecessor

Tai'an Teachers College

In 1958, Jinan teachers college was founded.

In 1959, Taishan University (Preparatory) was incorporated into Jinan teachers college.

In 1962, Jinan teachers college was transformed into Shandong Tai'an teachers training school.

In 1964, Shandong Tai'an teachers' training school was upgraded to Tai'an part-time normal college.

In 1971, Tai'an part-time work study normal college was renamed as Tai'an normal college.

Tai'an Institute of Education

In 1978, Taian teacher training school was established.

In 1983, Tai'an teachers' training school was renamed Tai'an Institute of education.

In 1984, Tai'an Institute of education was registered by the Ministry of education.

In 1993, Taishan United University was founded.

Shandong Radio and TV University (Tai'an Branch)

In 1979, Shandong Radio and Television University (Tai'an area workstation) was founded.

In 1984, Shandong Radio and Television University (Tai'an regional workstation) was renamed as Shandong Radio and Television University (Tai'an Branch).

Shandong Taian normal school

In 1905, Taian government established normal school was founded and then stopped.

In 1907, Tai'an teachers college was founded.

In 1915, Taian official normal school was renamed Taian County normal school.

In 1935, Tai'an normal school was renamed as Tai'an rural simple normal school.

In 1937, Tai'an County Rural simple normal school was closed.

In 1945, Tai'an County Rural simple normal school resumed.

In 1950, Tai'an County Rural simple normal school was renamed as Shandong Province Tai'an normal school.

In 1952, Shandong Taian normal school was renamed Shandong Taian normal school.

Merger development

In 1999, Tai'an normal college, Tai'an Institute of education, Taishan Township enterprise staff University, Shandong Radio and Television University (Tai'an Branch) and Shandong Tai'an normal school merged to form a new Tai'an normal college.

In 2011, the South Campus of the school was opened.

In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Taian teachers college was renamed Taishan college.

 

In November 2017, Taishan University was awarded the master's degree to the construction unit.

 

In December 2019, the Calligraphy Research Institute of Taishan University was established.

As of January 2018, the university has one key discipline of Shandong culture and Art Science in the "11th Five Year Plan" and two key disciplines of Shandong Province in the "12th Five Year Plan".

In 2010, the University was identified as the joint training base for Postgraduates in Shandong Province, and jointly recruited postgraduates with five universities, including Northeast Normal University, Guilin University of technology, Qilu University of technology, Shandong Institute of physical education and Wuhan Textile University.
