Liling City Museum is located in No. 30 Dongzheng street, Liling City, inside the xiannongtan. Xiannong Altar, also known as Shennong hall, was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in Qing Dynasty to offer sacrifices to Yandi Shennong. In 1977, Liling exhibition room of Mao Zedong's inspection of Hunan peasant movement was built on the right side of xiannongtan. The exhibition focuses on the historical event of Mao Zedong's inspection of Hunan peasant movement and the historical relics of Liling City.
Since its opening, the museum has exhibited "Liling historical relics exhibition", "ancient stone carving art exhibition", "Liling cultural relics exhibition unearthed from Qing tombs" and "martyr tower Jin tombs Exhibition". The tomb of the Qing Dynasty was excavated in Jiashu Township, Liling City in 1989. Among them, there are more than 20 well preserved silk fabrics, folding fans, epitaphs and other important cultural relics, and another male corpse is still well preserved. The Jin Tomb of the martyr pagoda was excavated in 1988 in the martyr pagoda village, lvjiang Township, Liling City. A number of important celadon wares were unearthed, including more than 30 bowls, pots, spit pots, figures and animals.
Liling City Museum has been rated as the national third level museum, and has become the only museum in Hunan Province that has obtained the third level qualification. Liling has 47 cultural relics protection units of different levels and more than 200 cultural relics scenic spots, many of which are ancient ceramic and fireworks kilns and ancient sites. In recent years, with the increasing investment, Liling City has made remarkable achievements in the protection of cultural relics. In 2007, Liling City successively won the titles of "national advanced county (city) in Cultural Relics Work" and "national advanced unit in cultural relics protection".

architectural composition
Liling Museum, Liling Memorial Hall for Mao Zedong's inspection of Hunan peasant movement, and Liling cultural relics bureau are three brands and one set of people. They have four departments: office, cultural protection unit, laws and regulations unit, and propaganda and education unit.
The museum building is characterized by a single two-story building, which is divided into three buildings. Each building is connected with a wind and rain corridor and planted with flowers and trees. The downstairs is the office building, and the upstairs is the exhibition room, all of which are made of red floor tiles. On the left side of the front building, a new three storey cultural relics storehouse was built.
