Basic Display
The first part is the hometown of the first people in Northeast China
Miaohoushan site in Benxi county is an early Paleolithic site, about 500000 years ago. It is the earliest human residential address found in Northeast China, known as the "hometown of the first people in Northeast China". The site is located at the entrance of the cave, covering an area of more than 40 square meters. Four human fossils, 76 stone artifacts, 76 species of ancient animal fossils, and a small number of bone artifacts and fire relics were unearthed. Due to its special geographical location, it plays a bridge role in the spread of ancient culture between North China and neighboring countries.
The second part is Cave: from home to cemetery
Part of the Neolithic sites in Benxi area are located on the platform beside the water, and more of them are located in the caves near the Taizihe river. The caves warm in winter and cool in summer were the homes of human beings at that time. In the bronze age, machengzi culture appeared in the upper reaches of the Taizi River. At that time, most human settlements were built on hillsides, and caves became public cemeteries of clans.
The third part is about the eastern advance of Yan and Han Dynasties and the rise of Koguryo
During the period of Yanzhao king in the Warring States period (around the 3rd century BC), five counties were set up in the north, such as Shanggu, Yuyang, youbeiping, Liaoxi and Liaodong, from which Benxi entered the jurisdiction of the Central Plains. In 221 BC, the Qin Dynasty destroyed Yan and Benxi was incorporated into the territory of the Qin Dynasty. In the fourth year of Yuanfeng (107 BC), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty added xuantu, Lelang, lintun and Zhenfan counties, which further expanded and strengthened the rule of counties. Influenced by the advanced culture and political system of the Central Plains, the Koguryo nation rose rapidly. In the second year of emperor Jianzhao (37 BC), Gaogouli established a national power in the area of Zuben (in the territory of modern Huanren) under the jurisdiction of xuantu Prefecture.
The fourth part is the integration of multi-ethnic culture
From the 10th century to the 14th century, Liao, Jin and Yuan regimes appeared in Northeast China. After Liao destroyed the Bohai State, part of the Bohai adherents were moved to Liangshui (now Taizi River) basin. In 1115, the Nuzhen nationality established the Jin Dynasty, and many local grassroots organizations such as meng'an and mou'ke appeared in Benxi. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Benxi was once a legacy of the Yuan Dynasty
