After the old steam train CK124 was full of 300 tourists, it tried to take a section of Pingxi line. The charming charm of the old train made the railway fans who came to Taiwan from Japan to take a test ride fall in love with it.
Historical evolution
Pingxi line was completed in July 1912 in the Japanese occupation era. It was originally a coal transportation railway funded by Taiyang Mining Co., Ltd. It was not until 1929 that it was sold to the Ministry of Railways in Taiwan's governor's office. After reconstruction, it began to run passenger transport. In the 1980s, due to the closure of most coal mines in Pingxi Township and the loss of population, the Pingxi line was operating at a loss. The Taiwan Railway administration once planned to stop operating the Pingxi line. With the active efforts of local people, it has been retained as the only three major branch lines of Taiwan Railway (Pingxi line, neiwan line and Jiji Line), and has become the longest and most beautiful passenger transport branch line among the railway branches still in operation.
