Yili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture Museum is located in the beautiful Yili River, the famous western city Yining. Founded in April 2000, the Museum covers an area of 8 mu, with an exhibition area of 1830 square meters, including a preface hall and three exhibition rooms, which respectively display the early grassland culture, the grassland culture of the nomadic era and the folk customs of Ili nationality. There are more than 2700 pieces of precious cultural relics in the museum. Among them are many fine grassland cultural relics. Large scale grassland bronzes, deer stones, gold and silver wares from boma tomb, silk embroidery relics, grassland stone figures, Chagatai silver and copper coins are very famous. Some cultural relics and treasures are also on display abroad.

The Kazakh Folk Custom exhibition grassland culture in the nomadic age is divided into the rise of the horse back people, the prosperous nomadic age, the Chagatai Khanate period, and the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In addition, there is a fine exhibition of cultural relics unearthed from Jilintai and Qiafuqihai in Ili. The national folk custom hall mainly displays the Kazakh nationality and folk custom, comprehensively and intuitively displaying the Kazakh's long and splendid history and culture.
Collection
Agaersheng bronzes: 12 bronzes were found in agaersheng, Gongliu County in 1976. This is a typical Bronze Age production tool, known as agaersheng bronze.
Gold and silver wares from boma tomb in Zhaosu County: unearthed in boma tomb in Zhaosu County in October 1997. There are gold mask, tiger handle gold cup, armor fragments and so on.
Almali porcelain: almali was the capital of Chagatai Khanate. Since 1975, more than 30 pieces of Yuan Dynasty porcelain have been unearthed in the city site, among which there are many fine wares made by Jingdezhen and Longquan kilns.
Important events
Folk aken playing and singing: from time to time, old Kazakh folk artists are organized to exchange folk culture and art in the folk hall, and play and sing meetings are held, which can be participated by the audience.
