Jiuqu Lane refers to the winding and zigzag Lane in the first market of Lukang Town, Changhua County, Taiwan. It starts from Quanzhou street, passes through xingongkou, wangyegongqian, jiujiancuo, Yaolin street, dicuozi, anjiezi, liulutou (today's Jinsheng Lane), and ends at Meishi street, Shanhang street and Longshan temple. Because "Nine" is the largest number of Yang, it also contains the meaning of majority, and the lane is full of twists and turns, so it is called "nine curve lane", and now it is one of the famous tourist attractions in the town.
Jiuqu Lane
Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an area adjacent to the sea, is named for its numerous and tortuous lanes.
the north sea
Before Daoguang year of Qing Dynasty, Beihai city was a virgin land being reclaimed. In the north is a beautiful beach, and there is a long and narrow peninsula (outer sand) parallel to the beach. It is a strip of water with the land, forming a natural harbor most suitable for fishing boats to take shelter from the wind. Due to the mild climate and excellent natural environment of Beihai, many fishermen from Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian, as well as indigenous people from Hepu, have come here to make a living. At that time, the south bank at the entrance of the east end of Waisha (that is, the South Bank of today's Waisha Bridge) became a trading point for fishermen and people on the bank to trade fish and daily necessities. It was located at the west end of a "sand ridge" about 100 meters away from the beach. At first, people built some extremely simple and irregular low bungalows here. That row upon row, uneven extension of the houses, forming a number of winding alleys. One of the lanes is very special. It is only about 1 meter wide. Every three or five steps from the squatter and cottage area to the Sanpo temple on the South Bank of Waisha Bridge will take a turn. But no one can tell how many bends it has, so people named it Jiuqu lane with the largest number of "Nine". As the name suggests, its appearance can be seen. Because of its unique curve, it has become a famous Lane in Beihai.
history
More and more people came to Beihai to make a living. During the reign of Daoguang (1821-1850), there were more and more houses in Jiuqu lane. Therefore, along the more than one kilometer long "Shaji Street", Shaji street, the first street with planning color in Beihai, was built. Although it was a stone road only about two meters wide, it was the early economic and cultural center of Beihai. The famous Guangzhou guild hall was built on this street. Since then, with the continuous development of Beihai commerce, a series of streets and alleys have been built, such as Daxi street, Shengping street, Dong'an Street (both the predecessor of today's Zhuhai West Road), jiuyu street and Jiumi lane. Although so many streets have been added, Jiuqu Lane still ranks first in terms of age.
During the period when Beihai was reduced to a semi feudal and semi colonial area, Jiuqu Lane gradually became a place for the lower class to play, whore, gamble and drink, and became a synonym for prostitute village because prostitutes were more active here. This is another reason why Jiuqu lane is famous.
In 1988, when the author made a general survey of cultural relics, an old Guiqiao surnamed Zhou in Qiaogang town said that when he was young, he heard his godfather say that he was in "Guangren society" (a charity affiliated to Guangzhou guild hall). The former site is near Yancang Road, not far from the west of Jiuqu lane. There is a landmark engraved with the word "Beihai", which proves that Jiuqu lane is the earliest urban area in Beihai.
With the passage of time, this lane has been gradually forgotten. But today we are wandering in the meantime, from her aging face, we can also think of her vicissitudes and the situation of that year.
The last remnant remains
One afternoon in the first ten days of April, 2003, I passed the vigorous road under construction, and a black debris came into my eyes. At that time, the West slanting sun was just shining on it, so I quickly went home to get my camera and took several pictures of this remnant from different angles, which hardly attracted anyone's attention. At that time, an "old Beihai" curiously asked the author: "Lao Zhou, what are you doing with this rotten wall?" The author replied: "this rotten wall is the last remnant from Jiuqu lane to Sanpo temple, Waisha bamboo bridge and Waisha more than 100 years ago." "Old Beihai" woke up and said: "interesting, it seems that this historical remains can only be preserved in the photos."
There is Shaji street behind
The reason why I am interested in this remnant wall is that it is one of the oldest historical sites in the history of Beihai city. Shaji street is the first street in the history of Beihai and the oldest street in the urban area. Jiuqu lane is more ancient than Shaji street. For the development history of gulizhai (the former name of Beihai) 500 years ago, its development process is Nanshu, Gaode, Beihai and Dijiao. For Beihai city with only nearly 200 years of history, it is Jiuqu lane, Shaji street, Houjie (the predecessor of Zhongshan Road) and Dajie (the predecessor of Zhuhai Road). Jiuqu Lane did not get the official name of Beihai at the beginning of its formation and a later historical period. It was called by the residents of this lane at that time. In the first map of Beihai City in history attached to Beihai miscellany published in the late Qing Dynasty, there is no "Jiuqu lane". Only after the liberation of the people's Republic of China, when new buildings were built at the original site of Jiuqu lane, did the official names of the lanes come into being: Minjian No.1 lane and Minjian No.2 lane. Although Jiuqu lane has undergone great changes for a hundred years, laobeihai will not forget its ancient name.
City Context
In the rapid development of modern urban development and construction, urban scientists all over the world pay more and more attention to the tracing and research of urban context. For example, the famous American urban scientist Luis mundford wrote in his book "the history of urban development": It should be noted that long before the city came into being, there were small villages, shrines and towns, while long before the village, there were campgrounds and storage yards. " For example, before the formation of Beihai City, there were Beihai village, Waisha village and Sanpo Temple (called "holy temple" in the West); before that, there were primitive campsites and storage yards like Jiuqu lane. 2010-07-20 01:23
Dongguan, Weifang, Shandong
Jiuqu Lane in Dongguan, Weifang, has been demolished. At that time, it was a veritable Jiuqu 18th bend. It is said that Japanese devils couldn't get in. My grandfather wanted to build a house, bought wood, and couldn't get in. At night, when he walked inside, he always felt that someone was following and there was a clear sound of footsteps. When he went to the front corner, he didn't know if there was anyone during the day. It was very characteristic. It is said that there is a family who opens a steamed bun shop and lives in an alley. Whenever someone walks by at night, someone will pat you on the shoulder. You should never look back. Once you look back, you will see a person without face standing behind you, and then wipe his face with his hand: "look who I am.". You'll see that his face is a rolling pin, or a shoulder pole. Today's Jiuqu Lane block has been relocated and rebuilt. There are so many tall buildings that history is no longer. What's left is memories and nostalgia. Even the old photos have been washed away by the vicissitudes of history.
