Weihai radio and Television University

In October 1982, Weihai tutoring station of Shandong Radio and TV University was established.

In 1985, Weihai counseling Station of Shandong Radio and TV University was renamed as Weihai Branch of Shandong Radio and TV University.

In 1988, Weihai Branch of Shandong Radio and TV University was rebuilt as Weihai radio and TV University.

 

Weihai Industrial School

In October 1984, Weihai vocational and technical middle school was founded.

In December 1986, Weihai vocational and technical middle school was renamed as Weihai vocational secondary school.

In May 1988, Weihai Industrial school was added.

 

Weihai Institute of Education

In June 1988, Weihai Institute of Education (Preparatory) was founded.

In April 1993, Weihai Institute of Education (Preparatory) succeeded in raising funds and officially established Weihai Institute of education.

In August 1998, Weihai radio and Television University merged with Weihai Institute of education.

 

Weihai Institute of Technology

In August 1958, Weihai Institute of technology of Shandong Provincial Department of labor was founded.

In May 1959, it was rebuilt as Weihai workers' technical school.

In January 1960, it was rebuilt as a technical school of Weihai Labor Bureau.

In February 1966, it was rebuilt as Weihai Branch of Shandong Labor Department part-time mechanical school.

In 1969, the Weihai Branch of Shandong Labor Department's part-time mechanical school was closed.

In July 1973, the Weihai Branch of Shandong Labor Department's part-time mechanical school was resumed and renamed as Yantai Weihai technical school.

In March 1982, Weihai technical school was renamed the second technical school of Yantai Labor Bureau.

In February 1984, it was renamed Weihai Technical School of Yantai Labor Bureau.

In December 1987, it was renamed Weihai technical school.

In January 1995, it was renamed Weihai senior technical school.

In December 2002, it was renamed Weihai Institute of technology.

 

In April 2020, it will be changed to: Weihai Vocational College (Weihai Technical College)

Merging schools

In October 2000, Weihai Institute of education, Weihai radio and Television University and Weihai vocational secondary school were merged and upgraded to Weihai vocational college.

In May 2004, Weihai technical college was merged into Weihai vocational college.

In 2005, it was awarded as one of the first backbone demonstration vocational and technical colleges in Shandong Province.

In 2006, it was identified as the first batch of 28 "National Model Higher Vocational Colleges" project construction units.

In 2009, it passed the provincial and national acceptance and became one of the first batch of "National Model Higher Vocational Colleges".

 

In August 2016, it was selected as the second batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units.

On September 26, 2017, the University was rated as the first batch of construction units of high quality higher vocational colleges in Shandong Province.

 

In July 2019, it was recognized as a national high-quality vocational college by the Ministry of education.

 

In October 2019, it passed the acceptance of the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of education.

 

In December 2019, it was listed as the third type of high-level professional group construction unit (Grade B) by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.

In the sixth national numerical control skills competition, Yue Shuhao, a 2011 grade student majoring in mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance and management of Weihai vocational college, was awarded the honorary title of "Shandong Province technical expert" by Shandong provincial government in 2015.
