Yuanyangxi national scenic spot is located in the northeast of Pingnan County, 30 kilometers away from the county seat, at the junction of Pingnan, Zhouning and Zhenghe counties. The total area is 78.8 square kilometers. It is the only mandarin duck bird reserve in China. Yuanyang river is 14 kilometers long, with deep mountains and dense forests nearby. It is quiet and clean. It is a good place for Yuanyang to live. Every autumn, hundreds of mandarin ducks fly from the north to overwinter, which makes the streams in this area discovered mandarin ducks more than 100 years ago. Therefore, Pingnan is known as the "hometown of mandarin ducks".

Yuanyang river is divided into five tourist areas: Baishuiyang, Yuanyang, chaxi, shuizhuyang Kaoxi and Yuanyang Lake. In 2012, the scenic spot was upgraded to national 5A scenic spot.

Development history

In 2003, yuanyangxi fishery ecological protection zone was established in Pingnan County, with an annual investment of 50000 yuan for fish proliferation and release, fishery law enforcement, and protection of fishery resources and environment.

On October 3, 2010, according to the news from the UNESCO World Geopark review conference held in lesworth Island, Greece, Ningde Geopark, which was jointly established by Baishuiyang, yuanyangxi, Fuding Taimu (m ǔ) mountain and Fuan Baiyun Mountain in Pingnan, was officially listed in the UNESCO World Geopark network list and won the title of "Ningde World Geopark".

In May 2012, Pingnan County submitted an application to the Provincial Department of ocean and fisheries to upgrade yuanyangxi fishery ecological protection zone of Pingnan County as a provincial protection zone. After upgrading, the county will invest 100000 yuan per year to strengthen the protection.

In August 2012, yuanyangxi fishery ecological nature reserve in Pingnan County was officially upgraded from county level to provincial level.

Main attractions

Baishuiyang

Baishuiyang, also known as xianpa River, is one of the four wonders of Yuanyang River, and is the upstream scenic spot of Yuanyang river. Its three ten thousand meter square on the water has been confirmed by experts organized by the Ministry of construction. It is a rare shallow water square that has been found in the world, so it is called "the world's unique scenery". Baishuiyang flat rock bed for a stone, net without gravel. The largest area of the three squares is nearly 40000 square meters, and the widest part is 150 meters. The river bed is evenly distributed, the water depth is ankle deep, and the sunlight is sparkling and incandescent, so it is called Baishuiyang. You can ride a bicycle and drive a car in the ocean. There is a 100 meter wide arc waterfall and a 100 meter wide water slide. Surfing naked does not hurt the skin. It is connected with Yantan beach. It is not only a natural surfing place, but also a natural water playground. Every August, the county holds a mass water sports meeting with 20000 people, and the lively scene is even more wonderful. There are five old peaks on both sides of Baishuiyang. Guanyinyan is relatively steep and has a strong contrast with Pingyang. The scenic area is beautiful. There are also stalagmites (also known as shamaoyan) in the scenic area. Dongtan gorge waterfall, Monkey King overlooking, double immortals descend to earth, caotan xiongtan, shuangru Tan, Xianli Chaotian (guard platform), giant elephant welcoming guests and so on.

Qi Tian Da Sheng cave

Qitian Dasheng cave is located in the lower reaches of Baishuiyang. The stone cave is tall and wide, with jagged rock teeth, broad beach in front of the cave, and stone forest in the middle of the stream. In December of the tenth year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1872), the villagers built the shrine and engraved it with the inscription "jade seal on the cave, Qi Tian Da Sheng Wang He Dian". After the temple was destroyed, only stone pillars and flagpoles were left. There were stone level shadows in the river blockhouses beside the cave, mother's heart and lover's shadow.

Baizhang water curtain cave

Baizhang water curtain cave, located in the Yiyang scenic spot in the middle of Yuanyang River, is one of the four wonders of Yuanyang river. Zhang Chaosheng, the Qing Dynasty's Yiyang military examination, said, "the water becomes smoke.". Because the pool cloth in front of the cave is more than 150 meters high and 20 meters wide, it is listed as "the first of the five water curtain caves in China". When the water is abundant, it has only one waterfall. When the water is dry, it can be decomposed into three waterfalls, with twists and turns. It is characterized by wide waterfall, large drop, long distance, sufficient runoff and no hillside, and can accommodate more than 100 people. Visitors enter the cave from the side without getting wet, like the Dragon Palace. Beside the waterfall, there are two stones with the look of turtle, viper and black scarlet cutting waterfall. The stone carvings seem to be "ah" but not "ah", which can be read as "ah, the rivers and mountains are spectacular" in 10 words.

Tathagata Avalokitesvara in fog

From the entrance of dabaiyanding nature reserve to the downstream of Yuanyang River, we can see that a peak is like a giant statue of high lying Tathagata, whose hands are close to the face and lock the valley. On its upper side, there is a dust rock, which looks like Guanyin kneeling on the lotus seat. The two scenes are called high lying Tathagata and moving lotus of Guanyin. When you get up early to "see the Buddha Guanyin driving the fog together", it's time for the sea of clouds to cover the hillside, gentle and surging. It's just like the Buddha Guanyin driving the clouds and mist. Two hundred year old pines on the roadside pierce the sea of fog, which has a unique charm. Fujian Provincial CPPCC calligraphers and painters delegation believes that it is comparable with Huangshan cloud sea and is one of the four wonders of Yuanyang river.

Dingtan Xianyan Valley

Located under dabaiyan in the middle of Yuanyang River, it is one of the four wonders of Yuanyang river. It is known as "full three-dimensional landscape", "big ring screen scenery film" and "only in China, but rarely in the world". In the canyon, the four pools are connected like giant tripods, with "flues" between them, commonly known as tripod pool beads. In the pool, the green water boils, the jade liquid turns over like a boiling pot, and the water mist is filled with sound. In the valley, there are smooth rock beds, huge rocks, cliffs, moon gates, high waterfalls, dangerous caves, gentle breeze and magnificent momentum, which are the favorite places for Yuanyang to visit. Other scenic spots in the valley include Bergamot rock, side face Guanyin, old urchin, Maitreya rock, Monkey King's shadow, Empress's throne, Empress's bath trace, camel rock, Yuanyang rock, snake rock, relief group statue, meimanwo, fairy waterfall, Zhongliu frog rock, turtle pressure snake rock, dolphin head ball, fairy whale carrying guests (Fairy stage), Hualian panda, etc.

Qingling

In order to connect the Xianyan Valley in Dingtan to the Changling mountain at the top of dazheyan, there are more than 1200 stone steps in it. Two steel ladders are set up from the middle of the crack between dazheyan and jimuyan.

Huzuiyan

It is also called equine stronghold. It is located in the middle and lower part of Qingling mountain. There are macaques in the cave, which can accommodate hundreds of people to enjoy the cool. There are Monkey King Stone and monkey climbing cave in the cave. On the opposite side of the cave, there are Maitreya peak, Buddha town cow demon, Buddha descending eight commandments, Buddha subduing Monkey King, Youlong Waterfall (also known as Piaohong waterfall). You can overlook the whole picture of yuankutan, which is a good place to watch Yuanyang playing in the water.

Dabaiyan

Located in the middle of Yuanyang, baiyanxi got its name. Juyan rises from the riverside, with a relative height difference of more than 600 meters. Several rocks stand side by side, with majestic momentum. Spring flowers and autumn maple are mixed in the crevices of the rocks, with a great freehand artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting. Among the rocks, there are monkey king's head, mountain pressure Monkey King, rock clip Bajie, thorn chest frog cave, etc. on the top of the rock, there is a three-layer glazed tile Pavilion "motianxian Pavilion", which is the first scenic Pavilion in Yuanyang river.

Hexagonal rock

It is located in the upstream of jiuchongzhen hydropower station in the middle section of the stream. The rock is 100 Zhang high. The rock mass is a strip weathered rock with black and black folds. The weathering is orderly planned, concave and convex. It is stacked layer upon layer. It is like an ice ridge hanging upside down. The sunlight is dazzling. Rock upstream Changtan, downstream jiuqutan.

Mandarin duck waterfall

Also known as Dawang waterfall, it is located at the foot of Shuiwei Dawang temple in Yiyang village. Beside the waterfall, there is a hundred year old Cryptomeria fortunei and Broussonetia papyrifera, which is called Yuanyang tree.

Trumpet waterfall

Located at the entrance of yuanyangxi nature reserve, the rock pillar under the waterfall looks like a big trumpet. The rock surface above the trumpet mouth is smooth and zigzag.

Dao Shao Tan

Located at the foot of Gusongling in the middle reaches of Yuanyang River, it is the return point of one-day tour in Shiping scenic area. The huge rocks on both sides of the pool are like knives and axes, and the long pool passes through. It is like a scabbard. It is a deep pool where Yuanyang often play. There is Pingyan guangtan in Tantou, which can be enjoyed by hundreds of people.

Shiping

Located in the upstream of Xianyan Valley in Dingtan, it is a huge beach and boulder valley. In the valley, there are Xianyu pool, Yintan, qixiannvyan, Shuangshi cuddling, Shuanglong grabbing pearl, Buddha holding monkey, etc. It is one of the areas where mandarin ducks are most concentrated and macaques are most active.

Wengtan

Located in the downstream of Xianyan Valley, Dingtan is wide and deep with sandy beach and pebble beach. Yuantai, Houxi beach and shenxilizard are expected on the bank. There is Xiaowu gorge at the head of the pool and a line of sky on the water. In the pool, there are seven exquisite jade rabbit Buddha head stones. Wengtan is the first scenic spot and pool for Yuanyang river.

Cangtan waterfall

Located at the junction of cangtan and the downstream of wengtan, the water of Yuanyang stream is forced into the mouth of the stream which is only ten meters wide by shuangbieshi behind wengtan, and it is pouring down with great momentum. The rock beach beside the pool is flat and wide, with stone tents, mangy toads and mandarin ducks. The valley is also known as a three-dimensional landscape, and is the most popular scenic spot in Yuanyang river.

Green butterfly waterfall

Located at the end of cangtan, the waterfall is 100 meters high. It is a drop type waterfall. In the waterfall, there is a scene of "Monkey King bathing", also known as hidden Buddha. Opposite the waterfall is giant elephant rock. Under the waterfall, there are many huge stones, small concrete bridges and small rainbows.

Bridge of the Celestial

Located in the lower reaches of cangtan, it was a single wooden bridge in ancient times. A stone arch bridge was built in 1986. On both sides of the bridge are County cliffs, more than 30 meters above the water surface. Under the bridge, Yingtan is unfathomable, with fairy stone belt, ring tongue stone, fairy quilt, crocodile cry and other scenes.

Double Moon Palace

Located on the side of the path leading to Xianren bridge, there are two moon shaped shallow holes. The upper hole has a sky opening hole to connect with the mountain beam, and is engraved with the goddess Yuanyang. On the other side of the cave, there are waterfalls and elephant rocks.
