Arctic Village

Arctic village, formerly known as Mohe village, is now the seat of the Arctic township government, also known as Mohe township. It is the northernmost tourist attraction in China. Historical development

Arctic Village (formerly known as Mohe Village) began to be inhabited in 1860 (the 10th year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty), and developed into a river post station leading to yanzhigou in 1866. In 1914 (the third year of the Republic of China), the administrative bureau was established. In 1917, the administrative bureau was upgraded to the second-class county seat. After liberation in 1947, it was incorporated into huma county. After Mohe County was rebuilt in 1981, Xilinji town was selected as the county site, and Mohe village is now the seat of Mohe township government.

Border town

Take the flight from Harbin to Mohe to Arctic village. When you get off the plane, you don't need a bus to pick you up. You just need to walk tens of meters to get to the exit. It's really the northernmost Mini airport in China. It's late autumn in this mysterious and remote ancient town, but the pine forests on both sides of the mountain road are still green. All the way north

Flying snow on Jiejiang River

There are two buses a day in winter and four buses a day in summer.

It's better to transfer the train to Arctic village in Harbin. The k7041 train from Harbin to Mohe takes 21 hours.

The aurora borealis

On the edge of Heilongjiang Province, there is a beautiful legend between an old couple and seven maid in charge of fetching water for the queen mother of the West. They are Chixia, chenglian, Huangyi, Lvyu, Lanshang, qingni and Zilu. It is said that every year on the evening of the summer solstice, people in the Arctic village can often see the colorful strips in the sky, that is, the so-called aurora borealis. It is said that the seven maidens of the queen mother of the West have come back to visit their parents.

In order to commemorate them, there is an extra festival called the summer solstice festival on this day every year. According to the custom of the Arctic village, people will spontaneously come to Heilongjiang on this day, light a bonfire, dance and wait for the appearance of the northern lights. Even if we don't see the aurora borealis every year, people will still come to Heilongjiang and devoutly wait for their daughters to go home
