Architectural structure
structure
ZHENFENG tower is octagonal seven level pavilion type. The brick and stone structure is conical in shape. It shrinks from the bottom to the top in proportion, with a height of 60.86 meters. It is second only to the brick and stone pagoda of Kaiyuan Temple in Hebei Province in China. The diameter of the tower base is 19.25m, the platform base is xumizuo type, the height is 0.95m, the bottom of the tower is surrounded by a corridor, the depth is 3.33M, and there are 24 eaves columns with a diameter of 0.35m around the corridor. The diameter of the bottom tower is 8.72 meters (the above layers decrease in turn), the wall thickness is 3.87 meters, and the diameter of the inner chamber is 4.85 meters. The top is octagonal basin type caisson. The second floor of the tower is for Maitreya Buddha, the third floor is for five Buddhas, and the third, fourth and fifth floors have more than 600 brick Buddha statues, with 417 on the fourth floor at most. There are 52 inscriptions on the body of the tower (35 of which are on three floors).
features
In addition to one big, two high and three wonderful features, the wind tower also has the function of navigation.
First: in the early days of the Anti Japanese War, when the Japanese invaders invaded Anqing, pan Shishang, a clerk of Anhui Provincial Library, hid the materials and books of the provincial chronicles and the library of literature and history in the Zhenfeng tower. Until the victory of the Anti Japanese War, the Japanese did not notice. This shows that the size of the wind tower.
Two high: Zhenfeng tower is 60.86 meters high, overlooking from a high place, you can see the scenery of ten miles around.
Three wonders: the design of the Zhenfeng tower is mainly reflected in the arrangement of the tower gate. The Zhenfeng tower has doors from the third floor. 168 steps spiral up, and the stone steps also spiral up. The positions are varied, sometimes from east to inside, sometimes from west to inside.
Design style
ZHENFENG tower is a seven storey pagoda, each of which has its own name. The first layer: yifangxiong Town, the second layer: ershuiyaofen, the third layer: sanjichuguang, the fourth layer: all are empty, the fifth layer: wumiao realm, the sixth layer: Liuchao Yisheng, the seventh layer: Qiji futu.
In the design of the route to climb the tower, the unique maze technique is used: first, the disjointed spiral is used at the exit of the second floor and the entrance of the third floor, so visitors often go to the second floor and can't find the entrance of the third floor; second, from the fifth floor to the sixth floor, the counter clockwise spiral stomp is skillfully used, so the tower door is very different and changeable, and nine out of ten visitors are maze. On the second to sixth floors, there are four doors for visitors to overlook. Outside the door, there are corridors and jade railings for sanitation. You can follow the corridor to see the tower, and you can also watch the extreme view from the railings. There is no corridor or door on the top floor of the tower, only a high arch window is set in the south. On the sixth floor of the tower, there is a brake rod with a diameter of 0.45M which goes up to the tower brake. The bottom of the brake rod is a sleeper (0.52M wide and 0.30m thick), and both ends extend into the bottom wall of the sixth floor. The top of the pagoda is octagonal xumizuo, with a semicircular covered bowl, five iron balls "Xianglun" and a gourd vase. It is connected with a copper shaft to form a Tasha. The construction of Zhenfeng pagoda is unique. Compared with historical pagodas, it can reflect that it combines the characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture and has a strong Oriental architectural style.

History and culture
Tower wind
Anqing Zhenfeng tower is built to revitalize anqing literary style. Before the Ming Dynasty, Anqing did not produce the number one scholar, and the style of writing was poor. Some astrologers, after looking at the topography of Anqing, think that the river is flowing in Anqing, so it is difficult for literary talent to take root here. They must build a tower to prevent literary talent from flowing eastward. Although this theory is absurd, after anqing built the Zhenfeng tower, the style of writing in Anqing was really prosperous and talented people came out in large numbers. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were not only great thinkers Fang Yizhi, father and son prime ministers Zhang Ying, Zhang Tingyu, number one scholar Zhao Wenkai and calligrapher Deng Shiru. There are so many scholars and writers. Tongcheng school is a prose school with Tongcheng scholars as its founders and main writers.
legend
It is said that every year on August 15, when the ice wheel is hanging high in the sky, countless tower shadows suddenly appear beside the tower shadows in the river. They are colorful, and they are miraculous. This is the annual "pilgrimage" to Zhenfeng tower, where the towers on both sides of the Yangtze River gather in Anqing. For hundreds of years, the wind and rain have been heavy, and "the Yangtze River is vast day by day, and the shadow of the pagoda cannot flow away.".
