Durian pagoda

Located on the top of the South Tongling mountain in Xiakou village, Dongcheng District, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, the pagoda is named Liuhua pagoda because it is located in Liuhua village, the hometown of song Yishi Xiong Fei. The pagoda has seven stories on eight sides and is 30 meters high. It is based on red stone and built with blue brick and gray sand.

Durian pagoda was built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty (1573-1620). Yuan changzuo of Chashan and Yuan Yingwen of Wentang proposed to raise funds for the construction of the water of Zhendong river. Wentang, Zengbu, and Chashan are three townships, all of which come out of the gorge with Hanxi and Huaxi as their belts, and converge with Dongjiang River. They flow like eight trigrams, with frequent floods. Because Tongling is close to Xiakou, it is also the confluence of the two streams and Dongjiang River due to the tide rise and fall. It is high and far away. Throughout the counties, the mountains and rivers gather around Tongling, and the scenery of Xiakou is particularly beautiful. Therefore, Tongling was chosen to build the pagoda town.

It is said that this tower is a branch of the gorge guarding Haikou. Now it is a garden ecological park in memory of the hero General Xiong Fei who led the righteous people to fight against the yuan army and put patriotism education into leisure. There are many legends and cultural relics such as Huaxi Yintang, Honghua temple, Shenxian bed, qiniangtan, tonggujiao, etc. in Liuhua Park, there are many tourist attractions such as Xu Gongyan, Xu Jingtang's former residence, haichaoyan, Yuwu Jinshi memorial archway, etc. In addition, there are the Liuhua pagoda built in the Ming Dynasty (Dongguan people started the first war of resistance against Japan during the Anti Japanese War), the Anti Japanese Memorial Pavilion of Liuhua, the ancient tomb of Xiong Fei, and the newly built garden Shengjing Huifang Garden (composed of gallery, general temple, etc.).

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Liuhua tower was listed as a key cultural protection unit in Dongguan City.
