Huzhou Baique temple is 9 kilometers northwest of Huzhou, leading to Shidou mountain in the eastern foot. Wang Xizhi of Jin Dynasty once came.

Original name

Legend of Baique listening to scriptures: in the Southern Qi Dynasty (479-502), the Buddhist scriptures of bhiksuni chanted on this mountain day and night for 20 years. After their death, they were buried there. It is said that in the 535 year of the first year of Liang Da Tong, the tomb of the Taoist Scriptures of bhiksuni suddenly gave birth to a green lotus, which was announced by the Secretary to build a fahua temple.

When Daoji was chanting scriptures, white sparrows often whirled around. If he listened to the Dharma, it was also called white sparrow temple. Li Shen, the Prime Minister of Tang Dynasty, and the king of Wu and Yue in the Five Dynasties were renamed huijue temple.

Guanyin becoming a monk and nirvana: King Miaozhuang, the disciple of Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, lived in Wuxing county and ruled Wucheng county. His princess asked the Buddha piously and gave birth to the third daughter of King Miaozhuang on February 29 of one year, named Miaoshan. Miaoshan young snack Zhai recited Buddhism, which was deeply loved by his uncle, Emperor Liang Wu. In addition, Emperor Liang Wu believed in Buddhism and was given the name of "Guanyin".

On September 19, Miaoshan became a nun in fahua Temple of Bianshan, named Qinglian. Qinglian recited the Dharma Sutra all day long in the fahua temple. After that, she traveled around the world to promote Buddhism and help the people out of danger. As a result, she became famous as the "great mercy Guanyin". After traveling for many years, he got the essence of Buddhism and returned to fahua temple.

One day, she bathed and dressed, and sat in a lotus jar, her eyes closed in the dark. This day is June 19. Buddhist believers regard June 19 as the day when Guanyin becomes a Taoist, February 19 as the Christmas day of Guanyin, and September 19 as the day when Guanyin becomes a monk. Since then, fahua temple has been famous at home and abroad. Hundreds of thousands of believers come to visit Guanyin on his birthday, the day of becoming a monk and the day of becoming a Taoist.

In recent years, from the evening of new year's Eve to the arrival of the new year, a large number of believers have come to pray for Guanyin Bodhisattva's blessing in the coming year.

Historical evolution

In Zhiping (1064-1067) of the Northern Song Dynasty, the monk Rusong was rebuilt and still named fahua temple.

During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Seng Jie was rebuilt by collecting money from the Qing Dynasty. At the end of Jiaxing, Xu once painted eleven famous mountains on the wall of the palace. At the beginning of the Republic of China, within 5 kilometers around Baique temple, pines and cypresses were green. Beside the stone road on the mountain, there were tall pine forests, which were called "pine path" at that time. Entering Baique temple is a patio. On the ridge of the center of the temple, there is a Baique standing to the south. On the hall of the temple, there is a plaque sent by Li Yuanhong. On the four walls, there are many famous poets' couplets. There is Guanyin hall on the top of the mountain. The hall is spacious and can accommodate fifty or sixty pilgrims.

Before the Anti Japanese War, pilgrims came from all directions every spring. According to the declaration, the number of pilgrims was one third more than that of Hongmiao in Shanghai. In the back mountain, there was also a historical site of Xibo pool at that time. On the top of the mountain, there is a huge rock, about two feet wide. According to legend, it is called "Wanghu Pavilion", that is, climbing the rock, you can see the vast Taihu Lake in the East.
