Mengdong River drifting is located in Furong Town, Yongshun County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. Its starting point is only 40 km away from Furong Town, a famous tourist attraction in Xiangxi. Mengdong River rafting is an early developed and mature tourism project in Western Hunan.

Mengdong River is rich in water, with large slope, rapids and strange waves. The high cliffs plunge into the water surface, and the two sides are close to each other, forming a deep canyon landscape. On both sides of the river, there are ancient trees in the sky, verdant green, scattered rocks, flowing springs and waterfalls everywhere. The No.1 drift project of Mengdong River in the world is located in the tributary of Mengdong River, with a total length of 47 km. The highlight is located in the section from hanigong to Niulu, with a length of about 17 km. The two sides of the scenic area are mostly primeval secondary forests, lush and luxuriant, turbulent water, clear green, with the reputation of ten li cliff, ten li waterfall spring, ten li picture scroll and ten li cave. This section of drifting takes about 5 hours, or only half the way. That is the section from Hani palace to Nilu River Bridge, which takes 3 hours. If you start to float in the morning, you can float all the way, and then go to Furong Town to play. If you start in the afternoon, you can only float half the way. When drifting, 6 to 10 people usually take a raft, each of them will put on a life jacket, and the boat is supported by local boatman, so it is not dangerous.

Hani palace waterfall

The river here is quiet and clear, and the stone walls on both sides are rugged. There is a bunch of white yarn like waterfall hanging from the top of the cliff on the green slope. It is hanigong waterfall. On the straight stone wall on the left is the famous sociologist Mr. Fei Xiaotong's inscription of "the best drift in the world", which he wrote with great emotion after crossing the Mengdong River. The name of Hani palace comes from a legend. In ancient times, there was a Tujia man named "Kedong Maoren" in Kedong. He has a large appetite, great strength, brave, combative and resourceful, so he became the "anti chaos general" under the chieftain king. Maoren has a daughter named Hani, who is lively and smart and smart. Mao people regard her as the apple of their eyes. In order to make her a talented girl, they built a palace among the beautiful mountains and waters. They invited her husband to teach Hani poetry and painting. People call it Hani palace. It is said that Hani once wrote a poem about Hani palace, which said, "the green water depends on the green mountains, the bamboo and wood cover the waterfall and spring, the wind blows the birds, and the fish leaps with the water.". There is no man-made building in Hani palace, but its natural scenery is as good as that described in the poem

Rock at the foot of the mountain

Shuimingshi beauty, such as a bay of natural bonsai, beautiful stone pile, water wave shake shadow, some like a wild horse galloping, some like sheep grazing, some like a monkey fishing for the moon, some like a rabbit floating in the air. Knead earth waterfall

Kneading soil is the most beautiful meaning of the local language. The waterfall is more than 30 meters high and 50 meters wide. The waterfall is covered with clouds and fog, and there is misty rain, green trees and jagged rocks. The wonder of kneading earth lies in the two stones in the pool. The stone embedded in the water is like a sunken boat and a stone screen. Here is the story of King nukaba breaking the ship. At the beginning, these two stone screens were originally one. Later, I don't know that immortal ne Shanxian wrote a poem with seven rhythms on the stone screen, and said that anyone could read through this poem, a gold boat in the river. Strange to say, after a few years, tens of thousands of people passed by the boat, and no one read it thoroughly. One day, King nukaba passed by the boat, and he wanted to break the stone screen. When he read 26 words, he was very happy to see a gold boat emerging in the distant pool. He thought that he could break the two word gold boat, and the things in the water would become the exclusive treasure and endless wealth. The king broke the word again, and the word came out of the boat. When the king saw that the golden boat was in front of him, he was so surprised that he didn't realize that the last word was wrong. With the sound of the wrong words, the golden boat suddenly left and slowly wanted to sink. When the king saw the situation, he quickly drew his sword to pick it. Unexpectedly, the golden boat fell into two pieces and sank into the pool, turning into two colored stones. The king was perplexed and left with regret. Later generations left another poem: "don't laugh at the ancients, don't scold the heaven, heaven's wealth and earth's treasures are in front of him. When heaven, earth and man are in harmony, the golden boat will always come to the world. Now it is the time of harmony between heaven, earth and man, and the golden boat has indeed come to the world.

Looking back at the gorge

Now it is called yanwangtan. Yanwangtan gorge is a natural pass which is easy to enter but difficult to exit. One of the boat's ups and downs, left and right turns, waves hit people, thrilling, tourists exclaim, it can be said that "in the waves, people sing and laugh.". There was no dry road or trestle in this gorge. People who didn't know the situation of the river often looked at the gorge and sighed and turned back by boat. It is said that there are only three books of the Jade Emperor's Sutra in the world. Half of them are in the Palace Museum in Beijing, and the other one is in the colorful sedan chair in the imperial Sutra platform of the ancestral hall. One day, a gang of robbers stole the Sutra and absconded along the lower reaches of the Si River by boat. When they arrived at this place, suddenly the wind was angry and the clouds were sad After a thunderstorm, the sky darkened and the earth darkened. The stone wall that held the sky and the earth suddenly fell and blocked the valley. The robbers knew that the heavenly soldiers were coming, so they took the sword and went back to the ancestral hall to write a letter of thanks and punishment. From then on, the name of Huishou gorge came into being.
