Town God's Temple, Yuci
Town God's Temple, Yuci, is the oldest and most well preserved Town God's Temple in Shanxi province. It covers an area of 6000 square meters. It is the first batch of key protected units in Shanxi. In 1996, it was promulgated by the State Council as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Town God's Temple, Yuci, is an important god in China's religious culture. It is a hero who is dedicated to the heroes of the local people. It is the God of China's folk and Taoist belief in guarding the city.

Yuci Town God's Temple is on the north side of downtown east street. According to "Yuci county annals", which contains the "Town God's Temple" written by Kim Chung Fu, a magistrate of Gong Chang Fu in the Ming Dynasty, it is known that the existing Town God's Temple was built after the demolition of the old city temple in the east of the good governance square in the north gate of Yuci.
The old Town God's Temple was twenty-two years in the Yuan Dynasty (1362).
It was built under the auspices of daruhua chitemur. Xuan de six years (1431) Yuci magistrate Cao Xian felt that the old Town God's Temple was narrow and humble, and then demolished the old temple. In the present place, three main rooms were built, three rooms in the East and West Wing rooms, and one in the mountain gate.
In March of the 12th year of Chenghua (1476), the scope of the temple was expanded. The original three main halls were moved to a place about eight Zhang away from the back as the sleeping hall, and five Xianyou halls (main hall) were built four Zhang away from the front of the sleeping hall. In the 7th year of Hongzhi (1494), Li Xuan, a Yuci man, thought that although the temple was huge, the original wing rooms did not match each other, so he built them on both sides In the 14th year of Hongzhi (1497), Fu Ji, a native of Yuci, built a pavilion in the South Center of the main hall, named xuanjian building.
Maintenance story
In the fourth year of Zhengde (1509), Wang song, a native of Yuci, built five mountain gates in the south of xuanjian building, which were completed in the sixth year of Zhengde (1511). Xuanjian building is rated as one of the 100 most exquisite ancient buildings in the world by the world foundation for the protection of history and culture. Later, Zuo Guiyuan and Li yindao, two people from Yuci, presided over the construction of yuelou in the north of the pavilion. In the sixth year of Jiajing reign (1527), sun Wenzhi and Cui Zong from Yuci built a barrier across the South Avenue of miaomen.
In 1533, Zhao Hong and Fu chanming of Yuci built a memorial archway on the East and west sides of shanmenwai: Baobao in the East and Zhaojia in the West. Two iron flagpoles were erected at the gate, and two statues of gods were built in the eaves on both sides of the gate. In the thirty-nine years of Qianlong (1774), Taoist temple and temple of wealth were built in Temple West. In the eight years of the Republic of China (1919), Zhao Wenyun was responsible for the last maintenance of Town God's Temple.
present situation
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Town God's Temple, Yuci, was used as an exhibition hall and library. During the cultural revolution, about three hundred thousand books in the library were ransacked. In 1971, Town God's Temple was occupied by the rubber shoes factory in Yuci until 1984, when the National Day moved out, the state drew 200 thousand yuan, the Shanxi province drew 100 thousand yuan, and Yuci drew 100 thousand yuan for the renovation of Town God's Temple.
In 2001, when the Yuci District repaired the historic block of Yuci old city, it repaired Town God's Temple again, and completely restored its historical true colors.
