Honghom is composed of big ring and honghom Bay. At first, only big ring was land. Since 1884, the Hong Kong government has begun to reclaim the sea in Hung Hom Bay. At that time, there was no name of Hung Hom. In 1909, when a construction worker was drilling a well, he found that the water gushed out of the well was scarlet. Some Feng Shui experts blame the earth breaking for the dragon blood. On the other hand, the test results of the well water show that the reason for the redness of the well water is due to the presence of iron sulfide and amalgam. In any case, because of the red well water, the area was named honghom.
