The first spring in Lingnan
The first spring in Lingnan is also called jipajing, and the local villagers are also called Xihua well.
origin
Before the Han Dynasty in Guangzhou, the water of the Pearl River was often bitter and salty, so it was not suitable for eating. In the Tang Dynasty, less than half of today's Guangzhou city was still in the river. Guangzhou city expands to the Pearl River at the rate of 0.6 meters per year. By the Ming Dynasty, the width of the Pearl River was still between 300 and 500 meters. Because the water is clear and the river is deep, the salty water in the sea is easy to soak into the Pearl River, which is salty at that time. Therefore, the people and officials of Guangzhou in all dynasties regarded digging a good well as an important task, leaving behind countless ancient wells. Li Jian, a poet of the Qing Dynasty, once praised: "there are many immortal wells in the south of the five ridges. We should not only nourish the earth's veins, but also avoid salty seas. " Among the numerous immortal wells, the first spring in Lingnan is the most famous.
The first spring in Lingnan is also called jipajing, and the local villagers are also called Xihua well. This is the spring water gushing from the ground. According to the chronicle of Guangzhou City, there are always prawns in the well, which are as golden as gold. When they float out of the stone, there are five colored pheasants flying to drink, so it's called Chicken climbing well The well was covered during the cultural revolution. In 1996, when the Baiyun Mountain area was under construction, the once covered spring eye came to light again. In 2002, a general survey of cultural relics was carried out in Guangzhou. It was confirmed that this spring was the first spring in Lingnan, and it was established as a cultural relic protection unit.
allusion
When we talk about the name of the first spring in Lingnan, we have to mention Huang Jian, a famous calligrapher and painter in Ming Dynasty. Huang Jian, a bachelor, was demoted to Guangzhou as a magistrate in the reign of Ming Shun. Huang Jian likes to taste springs. After tasting springs from all over the south of the five ridges, he thinks highly of jipajing. He also sets up a stone tablet of "the first spring in the south of the five ridges" beside the well. In his book water records of Guangzhou, he divides the water quality of springs, wells and streams in Guangzhou into ten grades. He says that the water of this spring is the highest among all the springs in Guangzhou: "if you taste the springs in Guangzhou, the taste of bachelor spring is the most beautiful, and it is the best for living. Jiulong and Taiquan are second, pujianlian spring is third, wuxingsi spring is fourth... " At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Qu Dajun, a famous scholar, also wrote the poem "Bachelor's spring". He said, "Bachelor's spring is better than ten springs" (there were 10 famous springs in Guangzhou at that time). We can see that the name of this spring is not empty.
In fact, other famous springs and ancient wells mentioned in Guangzhou water records have almost disappeared. However, in the pursuit of the historical relics of these famous springs and wells, you will find that a well or a spring is a piece of scenery and a piece of memory. These ancient springs and wells stop in the city of Guangzhou with water as the vein. After years, they witness the changes of Guangzhou people's life and convey the most real memory of Guangzhou city life.
