College of Optics and mechanics
In June 1958, Wang Daheng, founder of China's optics industry and director of Changchun Institute of Optics and mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, established Changchun Institute of Optics and precision mechanics in accordance with the instruction of Marshal Nie Rongzhen, vice premier of the State Council, that "we should establish a university mainly for cultivating optical talents for national defense". The school and Changchun Institute of Optics and machinery of Chinese Academy of sciences are affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Guo Moruo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, wrote the name of the University in his own handwriting.
In June 1959, the University merged with Changchun Institute of machinery and Changchun Institute of chemistry to form Jilin Institute of science and technology.
In May 1960, the name of the University was changed to "Jilin University of science and technology". In November, the school and Changchun Institute of machinery were integrated, and the name of the school was still "Changchun Institute of Optics and precision machinery".
Since 1961, the school has stopped recruiting students for two years.
In August 1962, it was jointly led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the national defense science and Technology Commission, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences as the main body.
Since 1963, we have resumed enrollment in the four majors of "optical instrument", "precision machinery manufacturing technology", "Applied Optics" and "Applied Physics".
In February 1965, the University was separated from Changchun Institute of Optics and machinery, and its staffing and funds were calculated independently. It became a university directly under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 1966, when the "Cultural Revolution" began, the school stopped recruiting students for six years.
In May 1968, it was subordinate to the science and Technology Commission for national defense of the Chinese people's Liberation Army.
In 1971, it was subordinate to the fifth Ministry of machinery industry.
In 1978, it was the first time to recruit postgraduates.
In July 1979, the academic committee was established.
In November 1981, it became one of the first batch of authorized units for master's degree in China, and obtained the right to grant master's degree in four specialties of optics, mechanical manufacturing, optical instrument and optical electronic technology.
In 1982, it became one of the first batch of authorized units for bachelor's degree in China.
From 1982 to 1992, it successively belonged to the Ministry of ordnance industry, the state machinery industry commission, the Ministry of mechanical and electronic industry, and China National Ordnance Industry Corporation.
In 1994, the Key Laboratory of high power semiconductor laser for national defense science and technology approved the project.
In 1996, it became the Sixth Batch of doctoral degree authorized units in China, and successfully applied for "military optics" doctoral program.
On September 16, 1998, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the school, Liu Huaqing, Zou Jiahua, Qian Xuesen, Zhu Guangya and other leaders wrote inscriptions for the school.
In January 1999, it was transferred to Jilin Province and co built with the Commission of science, technology and industry for national defense. In October, the third generation laser IFF and auxiliary communication system for main battle tanks developed by the school was awarded by the State Council and the Central Military Commission at the 50th anniversary of the National Day parade.
In 2000, Changchun building materials industry school was incorporated into the school.
In 2001, the school of optoelectronic information of Changchun Institute of Optics and precision machinery was founded by school enterprise cooperation.
In January 2002, we signed an agreement with the air force of the Chinese people's Liberation Army on training military cadres and began to recruit national defense students.
University of Technology
On April 4, 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to Changchun University of technology. Academician Wang Daheng wrote the name of the University himself. In the same year, he successfully applied for the national key discipline of "Optical Engineering".
In 2004, it was identified as the key university of Jilin Province.
In June 2005, Wang Daheng Institute of science and technology was established. In the same year, he won the excellent title in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education.
In April 2006, he was selected as "National College Students' cultural quality education base". In October, the Institute of Defense Science and technology was established.
In June 2007, Jilin Telecom training center was incorporated into the company.
In September 2008, the Graduate School of Changchun University of technology was established.
In 2009, the state-level Optical Science and Technology Museum Changchun China Optical Science and Technology Museum was managed and built. In the same year, it was rated as "the advanced unit of employment of college graduates" by the Ministry of education.
In September 2010, he became a member of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and later served as the leading Chinese University in the direction of "nanotechnology". In the same year, it was selected as the national "characteristic key discipline project" construction university.
In May 2011, it was rated as "National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education. In September, he was selected into the "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education. In November, Huawei and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. jointly built the "Huawei Network Technology College".
In the same year, he was selected into the "national construction high level university public postgraduate project".
In 2012, he was selected into the "National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program" of the Ministry of education.
In January 2013, the science and Technology Park of Changchun University of technology became the ninth batch of National University Science and technology parks. In May, it was selected into the national "basic capacity building project of universities in central and Western China". In December, Zhaoqing branch of National University Science and Technology Park was established.
In 2014, it became an observer unit of Sino Russian Engineering University Alliance.
In September 2015, it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Institute of Optics and precision machinery, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In December, Professor Jiang Huilin, director of the academic committee of the University, was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, the first academician independently trained by the University.
In July 2016, it won the qualification of University jointly built by the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense and local government for the fifth time.
In July 2017, it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone.
In August, he was selected into the "plan of introducing talents for Discipline Innovation in Colleges and universities" (111 plan). On September 13, he became a member of the Sino Russian Comprehensive University Alliance.
On March 15, 2018, he was selected into the first batch of "new engineering research and practice projects" of the Ministry of education. On March 28, he became a founding member of B8 Collaborative Innovation Alliance (China Ordnance Collaborative Innovation Alliance). On April 16, the school of artificial intelligence of Changchun University of technology and the Institute of artificial intelligence of Changchun University of technology were established, which is the first artificial intelligence entity college in Jilin Province. On September 16, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the University, the "Research Institute of civil military integration" was established.
In January 2019, it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei Technology Co., Ltd.
On July 30, the school established "Chongqing Research Institute" in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.
In August, it was rated as "national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.
In February 2020, the undergraduate major of "information security" was approved by the Ministry of education.
In June, the school was approved to start recruiting high school graduates from Taiwan in 2020.
On July 7, the "Joint College of shengguangji University of Changchun University of technology" was jointly built with Russia shengguangji University.
On July 15, Wang Daheng Institute of future technology was established.

Discipline construction
As the first university in New China to cultivate optical professionals, the University's characteristic discipline with optoelectronics as the core has a dominant position and core influence in the professional field. It has built a complete optoelectronic characteristic discipline system with OPTOMECHATRONICS system. The main disciplines of optics, machinery, electronics, computing and materials have been awarded the first-class doctoral degree. The school's disciplines are mainly engineering, covering engineering, science, arts, economics, management, law and art. It is one of the first batch of authorized units for master's degree and the Sixth Batch of authorized units for doctor's degree under the State Council. It has the right of independent enrollment and examination for master's graduate students and the qualification of recommending examination free graduate students.
