Historically, the Mengji Cultural Park in Xishuangbanna is an important part of the Dai palace. In 1160 ad, the leader of the Dai nationality, PA Yazhen, established the kingdom of Jinglong (Hong). There are more than ten species of apes in Mengli Cultural Park of Xishuangbanna, which are rare and unique in shape. Among them are the first albino macaque in the world, the pocket marmoset from South America and the white cheeked gibbon from the tropical rain forest of Xishuangbanna.
