Natang temple, 15 kilometers away from Shigatse, was built in 1033 by luojiaza, a senior monk of gadang sect. Although it is far less grand than the tashilumbu temple, its history is more than 400 years longer than that of tashilumbu temple. Natang temple is most famous for its Sutra printing academy.

Master bashiba's master, qinmulanggarza, lived here for a long time, and Dalai Gendun Juba, the first generation, was instructed to learn Dharma here.
