Huizhou has been known as the southeast Zou Lu since ancient times, and attaches great importance to education. From the 10th year of Jiading in Song Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty, there were 19 top scholars in Xiuning, ranking first in Shan county. All the students came to Qiyun mountain to burn incense and pay homage to Wenchang before they went for the exam. After they got what they wanted, they donated money to build the bridge. It is said that "there is a golden house in the book". It has been a Chinese dream since ancient times to become an official by writing, so Qiaocheng is named "mengzhenqiao". There is a beech tree on the left side of the bridge. The tree is more than 1300 years old. Its chest circumference and crown are the thickest and largest among all the famous ancient trees in Qiyun mountain. It has the reputation of "tree king". It is also called the "number one scholar tree" because all the 19 number one scholars have paid homage to it.
Mengzhen Bridge
Mengzhen bridge is located on the outside of Qiyun mountain, Xiuning County, across the peach blossom cave. It was built in 1555, the 34th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty. The bridge is 18 meters long and 3 meters wide with stone railings. On the stone column, there is the inscription of "Mengzhen bridge", 54 cm high and 120 cm wide, which was written by Huang Shu, a native of Huizhou during the Chongzhen reign of the Ming Dynasty.
In the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, Tan Renyi, a gentleman in Hangzhou, suffered from carbuncle on his back. After a long period of treatment, he was in danger, so he went to Qiyun mountain to pray for God. To peach blossom stream next to a nap, do not sleep, dream of a real person (Taoist) take Ganoderma lucidum at the bottom of the stream for its treatment of carbuncle. Wake up feeling back cool and comfortable, the next day carbuncle swelling antipyretic, the third day to shed a turtle shell like dry scab. After Tan recovered, he donated 1850 taels of silver to build the bridge, which was named "Mengzhen bridge", implying that the dream received the kindness of real people or that the dream still remembered the kindness of real people. In another word, Tan Renyi is the boss of Hangzhou silk shop. When his carbuncle died and he was in danger, he saw a long bearded Taoist priest floating in his sleep. He pointed to the West and said, "Mr. Tan, Warren is in the fairy mountain of Baiyue. Go and save your life!" Tan wakes up and tells his family that everyone is happy. He immediately prepares his horse to lift his sedan chair and goes straight to Baiyue. Old Tan pulls over the pavilion and meets Warren picking herbs in taohuajian. Tan explained his intention, and the Chinese envoy used Ma Fei powder to perform surgery on him on the spot. He also picked a strain of gold and silver fairy Ganoderma lucidum from the bottom of the stream, smashed it and applied it to the wound. Three days later, the carbuncle disappeared and the body recovered. The Yan family, boss Tan, was very happy and grateful. In order to thank Lao Dao for his guidance in his dream and Hua Tuo for saving his life, Tan Renyi donated money to build the bridge. When Tan recalled what happened in his dream, it became a reality. When he met people, he said, "the dream is nothing, the white mountain is real, the Emperor Xuan is hard to live, and Warren is wonderful. So it is named "Mengzhen bridge".
