Chuxiong is located in the center of the "Yi culture corridor" and the gateway of the "golden line of tourism in western Yunnan". It has the location advantage of "one Prefecture with three cities" (Kunming, Dali and Panzhihua). It is one of the two "Yi Autonomous Prefectures" in China.

Yi culture and its distribution

The Yi nationality is one of the ethnic minorities in China who have characters, calendars and unique traditional culture. The historical and cultural resources of Yi nationality are very rich, broad and profound. There are as many as ten kinds of languages and characters. There are a lot of documents written in Yi language, including politics, economy, religion, astronomy, calendar, history, geography, medicine, art and so on. The sun calendar in October, tiger's view of the universe, the view of male and female of all things, zunzuo Shanghei, fire worship, Bimo painting, Bimo Sutra, and the epic "Meige" have had a significant impact on the history of human science and thinking. Due to the lag of development and the lack of a display platform, the ancient town of Yi people is located on the famous "golden tourist route of Western Yunnan" in China, which is an uncultivated virgin land.

Development and construction

Preliminary works

In the early stage (i.e. phase 1 and phase 2), the ancient town of Yi people covers an area of 243 mu, with a total investment of 320 million yuan. It started construction in early 2005 and was successfully developed at the end of 2006. It has won unanimous praise and become a new highlight of Chuxiong's tourism culture.

The main features of its tourism culture are as follows:

1. Water source Square: water is the source of life, and the landscape is lively because of water. The square shows the water culture of Yi people;

2. Meige Square: through sculpture, it reproduces the essence of the Creation Epic Meige of the Yi people and the solar calendar culture of the ancestors of the Yi people;

3. Taohua River: the river runs through the middle of the ancient town (phase 1 and phase 2). Through various stone bridges, railings and waterscape facilities on the river, it shows the important historical facts and duel customs in the history of the Yi people.

4. Wangjiang Tower: it is the landmark building of "Dejiang city" in Dali state (Song Dynasty). It gathers couplet culture, calligraphy and painting art, and can also be viewed from a high altitude;

(5) huotanghui Square: the Yi people are a people who "respect the left and respect the black" and worship fire, which mainly shows the fire culture of the Yi people and is the best place for the Yi brothers to sing and play; 6) ancient stage: also known as "Yi wind garden", which is mainly used to show the original singing and dancing, Bimo stunts and diet culture of the Yi people;

Later stage project

As the "ancient town of Yi people" is a large-scale cultural tourism real estate project, the tourism cultural elements of phases 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are mainly displayed as follows:

1. Yi culture theme park (Yi tribe)

(1) display the original ecological architectural culture of the Yi people, such as tile houses, earth exhibition houses, wood stacking houses, flashing houses, Maocao houses, etc.

2. Display the Yi People's original ecological culture: planning a commercial street on the main entrance to show the original ecological culture of the Yi nationality, decorate the wine shop (wine making (Baijiu, rice wine) technology exhibition, Yi nationality wine show, tourist wine tasting activity); Tofu House (tofu production process display and other special food production).
