Yangling Insect Museum
The insect museum of Northwest A & F University was founded in 1987 in Yangling Expo Park. The second phase project of insect museum was completed and put into use in August 1999. The third phase project exhibition hall and butterfly net room were completed and opened to the public in October 2005. It is the first insect museum in China. Its construction and development has always been valued and cared by leaders at all levels of the party and the state as well as higher authorities. The State Development Planning Commission, the Ministry of agriculture, the people's Government of Shaanxi Province, Yangling Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone and Northwest University of agriculture and forestry science and technology invested 8 million yuan in the construction of insect museum phase II. Completed in August 1999, the new Museum covers an area of 4500 square meters and is divided into three parts: exhibition, collection and scientific research.

Exhibition section
It has the largest exhibition area in the world, the richest exhibits, the highest exhibition level, the integration of a variety of modern display means, and the integration of knowledge and interest. It is also an important patriotic education base.
The new pavilion has a unique shape, with a construction area of 3600M2, three times the original exhibition area. A large number of modern display means, such as photoelectric model, phantom imaging and multimedia technology, are adopted in the museum, with high technology content and advanced facilities. There are six exhibition halls in the museum, which systematically display an interesting world of insects, especially in the ecological area, where live dishes and other ornamental insects can be kept in the greenhouse all the year round. A 3300 M2 butterfly net room is built outside the museum, which can be used for all kinds of live insect breeding and butterfly stocking research for visitors.
Collection section
It has collected more than 1.2 million insect specimens at home and abroad, ranking first in China's universities. It is an important insect species diversity preservation base.
Research Section
It includes Institute of Entomology of the Ministry of agriculture, doctoral program of Entomology, postdoctoral mobile station of first-class discipline of plant protection, Entomology Department of key open laboratories of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of agriculture, research and development center of insect resources of Yangling University of agriculture and forestry, experimental studio and library, etc. Accept visiting scholars and graduate students at home and abroad to carry out cooperative research and thesis writing.
