Taxus chinensis Forest Park in South China
Taxus chinensis var. mairei Forest Park is a county-level nature reserve, located in Daqiao Town, northwest of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, Guangdong Province. Beijing Zhuhai Expressway and pingru highway can directly reach the park. It is about 45 kilometers away from Ruyuan County. It is a natural sightseeing experience scenic spot. It is named for the large number of Taxus cuspidata, a first-class national protected plant.
About the park
With an area of 10190 hectares, the South yew Forest Park is the most well preserved and the largest one in Guangdong Province. There are more than 100000 large and small yew trees, and thousands of trees over 100 years old. The park is located in the alpine limestone mountain area, with an average altitude of about 800 meters. It has yew virgin forest, artificial planting area, snow mountain resort, food garden, Xijing Ancient Road (including Xijing Ancient Road Museum), yew bamboo park, folk art village, etc. it is the only resort in Guangdong Province to enjoy snow and Wusong. It is an ideal place for sightseeing, science popularization, scientific research, tourism, leisure and vacation.
Landscape features
Niulang mountain and Zhinu mountain constitute the "Xiangsi mountain" of Taxus chinensis Forest Park in South China. The area composed of these two mountains is one of the areas where wild Taxus chinensis grows most intensively in China.
The diameter of yew king is more than 1.5 meters. It is estimated that its growth age is more than 2000 years. Some experts believe that it is the oldest yew growing in South China.
Two Taxus with thousands of years of history depend on each other, so they are called the "Millennium mandarin duck".
