Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park, located in Ninghai County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, is a national forest park integrating ecotourism, popular science education and leisure.

Located in the Tiantai mountains, Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park is a subtropical monsoon humid climate zone. The vegetation is dominated by natural evergreen broad-leaved forest, with a forest coverage rate of 92.6%. Pingtou mountain, the highest peak, is 735.2 meters above sea level, with a total area of 2281.41 hectares.

In December 2003, Zhejiang Shuangfeng Forest Park was approved as a national forest park.

Geology and geomorphology

The regional structure of Shuangfeng National Forest Park in Zhejiang province belongs to the southeast coastal fault fold area of Zhemin uplift belt in the South platform block and the Neocathaysian structural belt of Baibu yichikeng. The exposed strata are the upper Jurassic tuff, the upper Tertiary olivine basaltic rocks, and the late Jurassic, Late Cretaceous, late Tertiary and late Yanshanian volcanic rocks. There are alluvial proluvial sand (gravel) layer, residual slope loam, clay intercalated with block (gravel) in the loose accumulation of the fourth Holocene.

Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park belongs to Tiantai Mountain range, which extends eastward from Huading mountain. The landform is low mountains and hills, high mountains and steep slopes. The highest peak of pingtoushan is 735.2 meters above sea level, and the lowest is the normal water level of Baixi Reservoir, 170 meters above sea level.

Climatic characteristics

Ninghai County, where Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park is located, belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone. It is warm and humid with southeast wind all the year round. It has four distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine and abundant rain. The annual average temperature is 15.3-17 ℃, the annual sunshine is about 1900 hours, the average relative humidity is 78%, the annual average precipitation is 1000-1600 mm, and the frost free period is 230 days.

Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park belongs to the Baixi river system. The park is surrounded by 3.5 km long and 10-50 m wide water on the East, South and west sides, and there are two small reservoirs on the top of the mountain. Baixi, about 100 km long, originates from Maiping Shitou village, Tiantai Mountain, with an annual precipitation of 1600-2000 mm. It is mainly supplied by rainwater and flows into Sanmen Bay and Liyang port. The annual runoff is about 550 million cubic meters, including 350 million cubic meters for the main stream and 150 million cubic meters for Daxi, the largest tributary. Due to the influence of typhoon, the seasonal variation of flow is obvious, and summer (may October) accounts for more than 70% of the flow.

The vegetation division of Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park belongs to the North sub zone of middle subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest zone, Castanopsis eyrei and Schima superba forest zone in Zhejiang and Fujian hills, and island vegetation in Tiantai and Kuocang mountains. The zonal forest vegetation is middle subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest. The forest vegetation is dominated by natural evergreen broad-leaved secondary forest. The constructive tree species are Schima superba, Quercus glauca, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Castanopsis eyrei, Cinnamomum fragrans, Phoebe bournei, Ilex mongolicus, etc. other vegetation include Cunninghamia lanceolata forest, masson pine broad-leaved mixed forest, bamboo forest, etc.

There are 354 species of seed plants belonging to 249 genera and 87 families in Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park, mainly Fagaceae, Theaceae, Lauraceae, Rosaceae and ilex. Among them, there are Taxus chinensis var. mairei, a national first-class key protected wild plant, and four national second-class key protected plants, namely, xiangguoshu, hongmaochun, Xiangzhang and Zelkova.

Animal resources

There are 143 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and other higher wild animals in Zhejiang Shuangfeng National Forest Park, including 71 families, 116 genera. Among them, clouded leopard and black muntjac are the first-class national key protected wild animals, and pangolin, Qingyang, otter and owl are the second-class national key protected wild animals.

Eastern Zhejiang Grand Canyon

East Zhejiang Grand Canyon, also known as Tianhe ecological scenic area, has a total planning area of about 160 square kilometers and a core scenic area of more than 30 square kilometers. It is an ecological scenic area based on natural landscape and Taoism and Taiyue culture. The scenic spot has 6 Quxi, 18 Xiongfeng, 28 shuijian and 72 waterfalls.

Qingshui Gorge

Qingshuixia refers to the trunk section of Baixi at the tail of Baixi Reservoir, with wide valley and pebble beach. On both sides of the valley, the mountains and forests are green, and the streams and tributaries flow out.

Moon Valley

In the front of Moon Valley, the two mountains stand opposite each other, forming a narrow gully. The stream continuously circulates and scours the cliffs on both sides to form two relatively interlocking caves. The two caves are half moon shaped, and each cave wall has two symmetrical small caves, so they are named.

Seven color Pool

Seven color pool is a long pool on the great Songxi River, about 20 meters long. The stone color of the stream bed is slightly red, the stream bed at the bottom of the pool is green, light yellow and other colors, and the pool water is clear and blue. Within one pool, there are various colors, so it is called seven color pool.

Shame pool

Shame pool is a big pool on the dasongxi river. There are two huge stones in the pool, one of which looks like a girl bathing.

Forest hot spring

Forest hot spring is also called hot water pool. The spring water is collected from 158 meters deep underground. The daily water yield is about 2500 tons, and the water temperature is about 49.5 ℃. It contains more than 20 minerals and trace elements such as radon, lithium, strontium, fluorine, potassium, calcium, etc.
