Daliao River refers to the reach from Sancha River to Yingkou estuary after the confluence of Hun River and Taizi River. Before 1958, the Daliao River was the channel into the sea at the lower reaches of the main stream of the Liaohe River. In the spring of 1958, after the closure of the upper mouth of the wailiao River, only the Hun River and Taizi River were discharged. Since then, the Daliao River has been used as the channel into the sea for Hun River and Taizi River. The total length of the river is 97 kilometers and the drainage area is 1962 square kilometers.
Daliaohe River is located in the alluvial plain of the lower reaches of Liaohe River. The soil on both sides of the river is loam and clay deposits. The terrain is flat, and the river course is winding and changeable, which belongs to curved river course.
Daliao River
Daliao River is another name for the downstream reach formed by the confluence of Hun River and Taizi River, which flows into the sea alone in Liaoning Province. It refers to the 94 km downstream reach of the main stream of Hun River, which flows from Sancha River to Daliao estuary in yongjiao of Yingkou City and into Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea after the confluence of Sancha River and Taizi River in Haicheng City.
Hun River used to be a tributary of Liao River in history. Before 1958, the lower reaches of Liao River into the sea were divided into two branches. The West Branch, formerly known as Shuangtaizi River, is the only channel into the sea of Liao River; the South Branch, formerly known as wailiao River, runs southward near Haicheng, joins Hun River and Taizi River, and becomes Daliao River. After the government implemented the wailiaohe river cut-off project in 1958, Daliaohe River gradually became a part of the lower reaches of Hunhe River.
In November 2019, the Department of natural resources of Liaoning Province once renamed the Daliaohe River Hunhe. Later, due to the public opinion rebound, it was changed to the nonstandard name of Daliaohe.

Identification of river errors
It should be pointed out that although Hunhe River system belongs to Liaohe River Basin, it does not belong to Liaohe River system, but is an independent water system parallel to Liaohe River system. Daliaohe River belongs to Liaohe River system before the implementation of wailiaohe river cut-off project in 1958. After the completion of the project, Daliaohe River should belong to Hunhe River system and downstream of Hunhe River.
Hun River, which is known as Liao water and small Liao water, was named after the Liao Dynasty. It is named after the rapid water flow and the turbidity of water. It is one of the main rivers in Liaoning province and the elite city in Liaoning province. There are famous cities such as Shenyang and Fushun in the basin. The upper source of Hun River is also called nalushui, or Yinge river. The reach near Shenyang City is also called Shenshui. The lower Pu River is also called clam River after it joins. It originates from the west side of gunmaling, the branch of Changbai Mountain in wandianzi Town, Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City, and flows through Qingyuan, Xinbin, Fushun, Shenyang, Liaozhong, Liaoyang, Haicheng, Tai'an, Panjin, Yingkou and other cities and counties. Sancha River converges with Taizi River and flows into Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea in the west, with a total length of 415 kilometers and a drainage area of 11500 square kilometers. The main tributaries are Zhangdang River, Wanquan River, Xihe River and Puhe River on the right bank; Suzi River, saerhu River, Shehe River, Dongzhou River, Guchengzi River, Lagu River, baitabao River and Honghe River on the left bank. Generally, the tributaries are concentrated in the middle and upper reaches above Shenyang, of which 31 tributaries have a drainage area of more than 100 square kilometers. The tributaries of Dongzhou River, Guchengzi River, Zhangdang River and Puhe River are relatively large.
Taizi River is one of the largest rivers in Liaoning Province, located in the east of Liaoning Province. Taizi River was called Yanshui in ancient times, Daliang River in Han Dynasty, Dongliang River in Liao Dynasty, Wulu hubilasha River in Jin Dynasty, reed river in Manchu, Taizi River in Ming Dynasty and Taizi River in Qing Dynasty. The place name of Taizihe comes from taizidan of Yan state in the Warring States period. There are two tributaries of Hun River in its upstream: North Taizi River originates from the south of Xinbin County, South Taizi River originates from the east of Benxi county, converges near Beidian, flows westward to Benxi City and Liaoyang City, flows into Hun River near Sancha River of Haicheng City, and flows into Liaodong Bay of Bohai sea through the downstream of Hun River. It is 413km long, with a drainage area of 13883km2, a flow of 106m3 / s and a drop of 463M.
Liaohe River is one of the seven major rivers in China. It originates from guangtou mountain (1490m above sea level) of Qilaotu mountain in Chengde area of Hebei Province, flows through Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jilin and Liaoning provinces, and enters Bohai Sea in Panjin City of Liaoning Province, with a total length of 1345km. The source of Liaohe River is Laoha river. Laoha river flows from southwest to northeast. It is called Xiliao River after confluence with Xilamulun River, a tributary on the left side, at the upstream of Xi'an village hydrological station. Xiliao River flows from west to east to Jiaolai River, a tributary on the right side of baiyintalana in Keerqin Left Wing Middle Banner, and continues to flow eastward. After xiaowafang joins Wulijimulun River, a tributary on the north side, it turns southeast and flows to the upstream of Fudian hydrological station and joins zuohe river After the East Liaohe River, it is called Liaohe River. The main stream of Liaohe River continued to flow southward, including zhaosutai River, Qinghe River, Chaihe River, Fanhe River on the left side and Xiushui River, Yangximu River, Liuhe river on the right side. It was divided into two streams near liujianfang hydrological station. One stream was called Shuangtaizi River westward, Bohai Sea after Raoyang River in Panshan, and the other stream was called wailiao River southward Daliao River passes through Dawa County and Dashiqiao City and enters Liaodong Bay in Yingkou City. In the spring of 1958, after the closure of the upper mouth of wailiao River, the original Daliao River only released the Hun River and Taizi River. Since then, Daliao River has been used as the sea channel of Hun River and Taizi River. According to the principle of river source only, Hun River is the main stream, Taizi River is the largest tributary of Hun River, and the section from Sancha River to Yingkou of Daliao River is the downstream reach of Hun River.
The name of the river
On November 21, 2019, the Daliaohe River at the junction of the two cities has been officially renamed Hunhe River in the "Panjin City Map 1:600000 32kai" and "Yingkou City Map 1:670000 32kai" disclosed in the "standard map service" column of the official website of Liaoning Provincial Department of natural resources. In addition, the provincial standard map published in the "standard map service" column of the official website of Liaoning Provincial Department of natural resources also shows the information of the above rivers after renaming.
This change has aroused public concern. In Yingkou City, the original downstream of the Daliao River, the voice of doubt is very fierce. On December 30 of that year, Liaoning Daily published an article "Hun river changed back to Daliao River at the junction of panying in the new map of Liaoning Province" in response to the above news reported by surging news. Recently, in the standard map of Liaoning Province just released, the boundary river between Panjin City and Yingkou city was originally marked Hun River, which has been changed into Daliao River, and its estuary has also been changed from Hun River mouth to Daliao River mouth. So far, the social doubts caused by the renaming of Daliaohe and daliaohekou on the new standard map have been "satisfactorily solved" (the actual reason is that Liaoning Province was about to hold the "two sessions" in 2020, which had to be done for the sake of maintaining stability).
