Lenin Park

It is located in the north corner of nuojiang Town, Tongjiang County. It is located at the foot of Paotai mountain. It is composed of the remaining veins of Yinglong mountain and lies on the Bank of nuoshui river. It covers an area of 2 hectares with an altitude of 340 meters. The park was built in the early years of the Republic of China by Liu Jiji, commander of the Kuomintang garrison. It was named nuojiang park. On December 25th, 1932, after the liberation of Tongjiang County by the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army, the headquarters of the Red Army and its main leaders Zhang Guotao, Chen Changhao and Xu Qianjin entered the park. In order to highlight politics and expand propaganda, the headquarters decided to change "nuojiang Park" into "Lenin Park".

Historical expansion

In the winter of 1932, after the Red Army liberated Tongjiang, the leading organs of the party, government and army were all located in the county town, and the ancient buildings such as Zhang Ye temple, Confucious'temple, five li public office, Town God's Temple, Zi Gong palace and so on were put into Lenin Park, and the area expanded to nine square kilometers. Zhang Guotao lived in "May 1st Village", with the general headquarters in the Confucian temple and the general political department in the Academy. Zhang Guotao, Xu Qianqian, Chen Changhao, Wang Shusheng and Fu Zhong, the leaders of the Northwest Revolutionary Military Commission, the general headquarters and the political department, often discuss affairs and hold important meetings in the "May Day Village" of the park, and carry out recreational and sports activities in the park in their spare time. Red Army soldiers, local armed forces and young pioneers often carry out military training and sports activities in the park.

Landscape in the park

In Lenin Park, the buildings such as small western style houses (Wuyi Village), lotus pools, flower beds, pavilions, Red Army stone inscriptions, chessboard stones and other Red Army relics are still there. The ancient trees in the park are towering and the winding paths lead to seclusion. The exhibition of Zhang Guotao's former residence was officially opened to the public in 2003. Today, it is an important part of the national patriotic education demonstration base "Memorial Hall of the former site of the general headquarters of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army". It is not only for people to visit, but also a place for the masses to enjoy themselves.
