It is said that one day, a poor and ugly old woman suddenly appeared in her hometown. When she came to the front of the "relic tower", she stopped. She made a few turns in front of the tower and found that some parts of the tower were eroded and dilapidated. So he went door-to-door to lobby everyone to repair the tower, and promised to arrange everyone's meals every day. Naturally, people didn't believe it at first. Only a poor man in the village, who had nothing to eat, was willing to go. As a result, people were surprised to find that the poor man actually ate dumplings every day! This was a delicacy that most people could eat only during the Spring Festival. As a result, people took an active part in the renovation of the "relic tower". More and more people are involved in the construction of the pagoda, but the old lady can let all people eat dumplings. On the last day of repairing the pagoda, a curious man sneaked into the cooking place where the old lady usually didn't let others peek while everyone was working, to find out. Why? Almost ready to eat, the old woman is still motionless in meditation there. I'm afraid I'm going to be hungry today. At this time, the old woman stood up, a wave of sleeves, there are several pots of steaming dumplings.

After the last meal, the old lady showed her real body and stepped on the auspicious clouds to go up to heaven It turns out that she is the Guanyin Bodhisattva of Nanhai. She is educating the people here.

In order to commemorate the merits of Nanhai Guanyin, people changed the name of "relic tower" to "Nanhai Guanyin tower".

In the Northern Song Dynasty, Taiping Xingguo temple was built with Nanhai Guanyin tower as the core. "Nanhai Guanyin tower" is also known as "Taiping Xingguo tower".
