Jiji Line
Jiji branch line is the longest branch line of Taiwan Railway. At first, it was built as a transportation railway for hydropower generation and reservoir construction. Later, it became the pioneer of Taiwan tourism railway because of its rich tourism resources. It is also the only railway still in operation in Nantou County
.

brief introduction
Jiji Line was initially built during the Japanese occupation period to meet the needs of taiwanelectric Power Co., Ltd. to build Sun Yue Tan Daguan power plant and Jugong power plant. It was completed in 1921 and began to handle passenger transport business the next year. In 1927, the governor's office of Taiwan purchased and improved the route, and became a branch line under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of railways.
The 921 earthquake occurred on September 21, 1999, which caused serious damage to the Jiji Line. The Jiji station was inclined and collapsed, and many railway tracks were broken. It was not until February 6, 2002 that it was restored to traffic and transformed into one of Taiwan's famous sightseeing railways.

In 1919 (the eighth year of Taisho in the period of Japanese rule), based on the transportation needs of the construction of Riyuetan menpaitan power station (Riyuetan No.1 Power Station, now Daguan No.1 Power Station) and Riyuetan No.2 Power Station (now Jugong power station) by Taiwan Electric Power Co., Ltd., the gathering line began to be built. It was completed in 1921 and began to handle passenger transport business on January 14, 1922. On May 1, 1927, the governor's office of Taiwan purchased and improved the route, and became a branch line under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of railways.
