Doubing pagoda was built in 1625, with a height of about 20 meters and a total of seven storeys. It is a key cultural relic unit under state protection. It is located in Qixingling, Puqian Town, Wenchang City, Hainan Province, where there are dense forests and lush grass, rich in animal and plant resources. There are dozens of wild animals, such as wild boar, pheasant, hare, yellowtail, turtle, ponma, Japanese Rex, fox, squirrel, etc.

history

Doubing pagoda was built by Wang Hongyu (a native of Ding'an), the Minister of rites of Ming Dynasty, after he became an official, for the purpose of navigation mark and demon suppression. The tower is dignified and steady in shape, graceful and generous, tall and straight, towering and magnificent in momentum. It has been built for more than 380 years. It has gone through many vicissitudes, withstood numerous strong typhoons and lightning attacks, and still stands tall. It is not only a special navigation mark for maritime shipping and fishing operations, but also a valuable material for studying the development history of ancient pagodas in Hainan.

Doubing pagoda was built on the fifth day of Tianqi in Ming Dynasty (1625 A.D.) and rebuilt in the 13th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1887 A.D.). The plane of the tower is octagonal, with seven layers. The shrinkage of each layer is decreasing. The brick road is overlapped with line brick and shuttle corner brick to form the eaves. Each layer has an arch. There are 104 spiral steps inside. The top of the tower can be reached by climbing up the steps. The height of the tower is about 20 meters, and the top gourd has been abandoned. At present, there are only covered basins, with a base of 44.8 meters and a body of 3.55 meters thick. Facing the west, the stone plaque on the front of the gate is engraved with the word "Dou Bing Ta". The first section is engraved with the words "to be built in the fifth year of tomorrow's Enlightenment" and the second section is engraved with the words "to be rebuilt in the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty". Doubing tower faces Qiongzhou Strait. In the past, merchant and civilian ships passed through this gorge. Because there was no navigation mark, they were often killed, which was considered to be caused by monsters.
