It is connected with Hoh Xil mountain in the West and reaches Songpan plateau and Qiongshan mountain in the East. The elevation is about 5000 meters (16400 feet), and the main peak of Bayan Har mountain is 5267 meters (17281 feet). It is the watershed of the headwaters of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. The Tibetan name of Bayankala mountain is "qiangymanimu zhanmusong", which means Zushan. It is located between the source of the Yellow River and Tongtian River and belongs to the east end of the middle branch of Kunlun Mountains. The mountain is towering, with undulating mountains and continuous xiongling mountains. Most of the areas are between 4500-6000 meters above sea level. Bayan Har mountain has a continental cold climate, with thin air and extremely cold climate. There are eight or nine months of flying snow in a year, and the lowest temperature in winter can reach about - 35 ℃. Therefore, many snow capped mountains with 5000 meters or so have permanent snow and permafrost. The warm season is relatively short, generally only more than three months, and the temperature is low, even in midsummer, the highest temperature is only about 10 ℃. Due to the relatively high altitude and the vast territory, the mountains here are not steep and gentle. Some of the peaks are very similar to the five mountains described by Mi Fu. They are round and rough. Some of them look like mountains in the distance and like rivers in the near. The mountains are as vast and flat as plains. In ancient China, the mountain was called "Kunshan", also known as "Kunlun mound" or "xiaokunlun". The famous ancient book Shanhaijing once recorded: "Kunlun Mountain is in the northwest, and the river flows out of its northeast corner.". "Out of its northeast corner, it is only the source of the river.". It can be seen that from ancient times in China, people have identified Bayan Har mountain as the birthplace of the Yellow River. Bayankala mountain is a famous mountain in Qinghai Province. Although the terrain is cold and the climate is complex, it has abundant rainfall and is an important grassland in southern Qinghai. It is rich in yaks called "boat of Plateau" and world-famous Tibetan sheep, so it is called "hometown of yaks".

natural resources
Bayankala mountain range is the watershed between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River in Qinghai Province. Its main peak is located in the southwest of Maduo County and northwest of Bayankala mountain pass. It is called "Lena Dongri" in Tibetan, with an altitude of 5266 meters. The Yellow River originates from the youguzonglie basin to the east of yaladaze mountain, which is 5202 meters above sea level. Most of the mountains are below 5000 meters above sea level, about 4500 meters above sea level in the ancient zonglie basin and the source area of the Yellow River. The mountain is gentle, and the front of the mountain is covered with swamps and lakes, among which the famous ones are Xingxiu lake, Zhaling lake and Eling Lake.
Bayankala mountain is located in the south of central Qinghai Province. It is the South Branch of Kunlun Mountains. It is connected with Hoh Xil mountain in the West and min mountain and Qionglai mountain in the East. This is the watershed between the source areas of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. The yueguzong liequ in the north foot is the source of the Yellow River, and the south foot is the North source of the Yangtze River. Bayankala in Mongolian means "rich green (black) Mountain".
There are many high mountains with snow all the year round, and glaciers hang everywhere. After each spring, under the strong sunlight, the snow and ice in the mountains gradually melt, and the melt water merges into streams, moistening the dry fertile soil and supplying water for the Yangtze River and the Yellow River.
The source of the Yellow River is a trickle of water, clear and gentle, passing through the center of the pot shaped JURU land and flowing into the Xingxiu sea. In this vast swamp flow, the speed is slow, not into the river. It used to be thought that Xingxiu sea was the source of the Yellow River.
In the mountain area, there are permafrost, poor drainage, marsh meadows dominated by hygrophytes, which are suitable for grazing cattle and horses. The well drained Valley and low gentle slope are the dominant meadows of mesophytic herbs, with abundant plant species and large mammals. Forage is an ideal forage for all kinds of plateau livestock because of its high nutrient content.
This area is located at the edge of the subtropical monsoon plateau peak climate region. Spruce and pine and cypress grow in the foot of the mountain for hundreds of years. They grow into forests to cover the wild and have towering ancient trees. There are Cordyceps, Fritillaria, rhubarb and other valuable medicinal materials on the hillside. At the foot of the mountain, wild donkeys, wild cattle, Tibetan antelopes, rock sheep, white lipped deer, black bears and other precious animals swarm around the forest and grassland, and there are more than 20 kinds of plateau specific fish in the lake. It can be said that people will feel really back to nature as soon as they arrive here.
Princess into Tibet
Bayankala pass, located in the middle of the mountain to the south of Eling Lake, is a must pass of the Tang and Tibetan Ancient Road in the Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of the 7th century, Zanpu Songzanganbu unified the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, established friendly relations with the Tang Dynasty at that time, and asked the Tang Dynasty to marry him many times. In 641 ad, Emperor Taizong of Tang sent Li daozong to escort Princess Wencheng to Tibet to make peace with her relatives, and then went to the capital of Tubo through Riyue pass and Bayankala pass. Later, the Tang Dynasty sent Princess Jincheng to Tibet and married chidai Zhudan. It was this route that the princess went to Tibet and the Tang and Tibetan envoys. It is located in the eastern section of Bayan Har mountain, 101.1 degrees east longitude and 33.3 degrees north latitude, in Jiuzhi County, Qinghai Province. Its top is composed of three perennial snow capped mountains, and the mountain body is composed of several ridges and corresponding canyons, looking down like petals. The valley is dominated by valley glaciers and suspended glaciers. After the melting of ice and snow, more than 160 lakes, large and small, are formed in the valley around the snow peak, forming a scene of snow mountain and mirror lake, with thousands of natural landscapes. The main reason why local herdsmen regard it as a "holy mountain" is that it is quiet and beautiful.
The weather is changeable
The towering rocks around the main peak also add to the attraction of this mountain, which is not very eye-catching. The mystery of Nian Baoyu is nothing more than the unpredictable weather. In July and August, you can also appreciate the changes of the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. In the early morning, the sky is full of stars, but there is heavy snow falling, and the cold is pressing. It's like a scene in the middle of winter. A red sun is rising from the East, and the whole mountain is filled with thick fog. Soon, the golden sun is shining all over the earth, and the sky is as clear as water. In the morning, the mountains are covered with thick clouds and heavy rain; at noon, the clouds are dispersed and the sun is burning, returning to the hot season of midsummer; in the afternoon, there is a sudden gust of wind, thunder, lightning and hail falling from the sky; in the evening, the sun is setting, and the grassland is completely restored to its former tranquility, while nianbaoyu unveils its mysterious veil.
