Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum is located in Zhaoxiang Huanggong temple, Zhaoxiang Road, Chancheng District, Foshan City. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. In June 2003, with the approval of Foshan municipal government, Foshan Cantonese Opera Museum, which has been preparing for many years, settled in the ancestral hall. Guangdong Opera Museum, with an area of 3000 square meters, was officially opened on April 2, 2004.
Development history
In 2002, Guangdong provincial Party committee proposed to build a cultural province, and Foshan municipal Party committee proposed to build a cultural city, which brought unprecedented development opportunities for Foshan Cantonese Opera and other cultural undertakings. In March 2004, Li Shuqin, a young Cantonese Opera actor from Foshan, won the plum blossom award, the highest award of Chinese drama. Now the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum is located in Foshan. The Foshan municipal government and the Provincial Department of culture will jointly set up the "Qionghua Award for Cantonese Opera Art". It is reported that the award will be the only professional award in the field of Cantonese opera art. Cantonese Opera is like a fish in water among the people in Foshan, and "private partnership bureau" is blooming everywhere. A "private partnership bureau" in Junan Shatou village of Shunde can even represent Shunde to exchange performances in Singapore. According to incomplete statistics, there are 206 "private partnership bureaus" with official names in Foshan, and there are more than 400 "private partnership bureaus" without surnames. There are villages and towns, and the roots of Foshan Cantonese Opera are growing.

From the beginning to the end, the construction of the museum has been strongly supported by experts and scholars inside and outside the province and people in the field of Cantonese opera. Yu Muyun, an opera consultant of the Hong Kong government and an expert in the history of Cantonese opera, Xie binchou and Lai BOJIANG, experts in the history of Cantonese Opera who enjoy subsidies from the State Council of Guangdong Province, presided over the compilation and modification of the exhibition outline of the museum. Most of its collections were donated by enthusiastic people at home and abroad. The construction of Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum has received the attention and concern of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government. Zhang Dejiang, Chen Shaoji, Huang Liman, Huang Longyun, Lei Yulan and other leaders have visited the museum, and have received warm attention from people in the cultural circles at home and abroad. Many overseas Chinese also sent their collections of cultural relics of Cantonese opera to give great support to the construction of the museum.
Features of the library
Foshan Cantonese Opera Museum is located in Zhaoxiang Huanggong ancestral hall, the largest ancestral complex in Chancheng District. Built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, Zhaoxiang Huanggong temple is the ancestral hall of Huang Danian, the founder of the famous Chinese patent medicine "huangxianghua Ruyi oil" in Foshan. In July 2002, the people's Government of Guangdong Province announced it as a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province. This ancestral hall is magnificent, ingenious and unique in design and luxurious in decoration. It is the epitome of the existing ancestral hall buildings in Foshan. The main building is located in the west to the East, which is composed of the head gate, the worship Pavilion, the second entrance, the third entrance, and the last entrance on the longitudinal axis. It is a quadrangle layout of four entrance courtyard. On the left and right sides, there are four wing rooms (residences) alternated by Qingyun lane, which are symmetrical, uniform and beautiful. The front door is high and grand with luxurious decoration; the beams of the porch are covered with exquisitely carved lacquer and gold wood carvings; the water polished blue bricks on the front wall are neat and beautiful. The worship Pavilion is constructed with the front eaves columns of the two entrance building. Two into the framework, three into the framework along the Qing system for the melon column beam structure, indoor spacious and bright. There are 13 exhibition areas in the museum, including history, art and people. There are Cantonese Opera scripts, wooden fish books, posters, opera bridges, costumes, musical instruments, famous actors' paintings and calligraphy, and Cantonese opera movies from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the present.
The exhibition area of Zhaoxiang Huanggong temple is 2123 square meters. The exhibition contents are arranged as follows:

The contents of "the origin of Cantonese Opera" are arranged and displayed in the first and second entrance hall of Zhaoxiang Huanggong ancestral hall, which are divided into: Cantonese Opera Troupe, Huaguang statue, Qionghua guild hall restoration model and relics, Li Wenmao statue and red scarf army relics, indoor Cantonese opera stage, the formation of red boat troupe, various red boat models, Foshan local Cantonese opera theme building decoration components, etc.
3. The main building displays "the development of Cantonese Opera from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China to the Cultural Revolution", including the lifting and revival of the ban on Cantonese Opera in the late Qing Dynasty and the blooming of a hundred flowers after the founding of the people's Republic of China, which is divided into: the rise and decline of the Bahe guild hall, the formation of the Zhishi class and the provincial and Hong Kong class during the 1911 Revolution, the Anti Japanese activities of Cantonese opera artists, the formation of five major schools of Cantonese opera, the return of Cantonese opera artists after the founding of the people's Republic of China, and the Guangdong opera of new China The reform of drama art.
4. The "famous Cantonese opera artists" section is displayed in the North corridor and the North Wing rooms, showing the lives and contributions of hundreds of famous Cantonese opera artists in modern, modern and contemporary times.

More than 3000 pieces of Cantonese Opera scripts, wooden fish books, posters, opera bridges, costumes, musical instruments from Ming Dynasty, Qing Dynasty to contemporary times, as well as early Cantonese Opera films, records, stills, famous artists' paintings and calligraphy are displayed, showing the rich connotation and unique charm of Cantonese opera culture.
1. We should not only pay attention to the protection of ancient buildings, reflect the historical style and architectural art of ancient buildings as much as possible, but also coordinate with modern display.
2. The combination of static and dynamic is adopted to show the artistic characteristics of Cantonese opera as much as possible. In addition to exhibits, photographs, historical materials, and other exhibits, multimedia technology is used to enrich the display forms, such as using interactive computer to draw close distance between the audience and the exhibition, and enhance interest. Large screen and high-definition projection equipment are used to show the essence of Cantonese opera.
3. Combined with the content of the exhibition, we use contemporary materials and decorative style to restore the old scene and reproduce the history of Cantonese opera. For example, the first entrance hall is restored according to the Huaguang Temple of the Qing Dynasty, and the second entrance hall stage is made according to the traditional style.
Collection
1) Dance figurines of Han Dynasty
A large number of dance figurines unearthed from Lanshi Han Tombs in Foshan show that Foshan was quite popular in the Han Dynasty.
2) Stone relics from shuipo, Qionghua, Ming Dynasty
In the Ming Dynasty, there was Qionghua shuipo in front of the Qionghua guild hall. It was a special wharf for red boat berthing in the past.
3) Qionghua palace censer
The main hall of Qionghua guild hall is Qionghua palace where Cantonese opera artists worship the founder of Huaguang. The censer of Qionghua palace is the important material evidence.
4) Huo's genealogy of Foshan in Ming Dynasty
Foshan is the earliest place to record the activities of theatrical troupes.
5) "Zhenlan"
In the early years of the Republic of China, a special magazine introducing the names of 36 Cantonese Opera classes, their artists and performances is of great value to the study of the development of Cantonese opera. There are only a few.
6) Li ruizu's bamboo "wujiatou"
Mr. Li ruizu, 84 years old, has studied Cantonese Opera ancient tunes and bamboo musical instruments for more than half of his life. The bamboo wujiatou is made with decades of painstaking efforts. It has the calligraphy, painting and seal of Zhao shaoang, a famous calligrapher and painter, and Lu Yunzhai, a famous seal cutter. It can be called a treasure of art.
7) Stills of the film platinum dragon starring Xue juexian
This is the first Cantonese Opera movie in China, in which Xue juexian plays the leading role.
8) The earliest Cantonese Opera record
The first record in the world was produced in 1888. It was single-sided in the early stage, and double-sided only appeared after 1903. The single-sided Cantonese opera records collected by Foshan Cantonese Opera Museum in 1902 are the earliest extant Cantonese opera records.

10) Cantonese Opera facial makeup
Early Cantonese Opera
In the early stage, the lines of Cantonese Opera facial makeup were simple and the colors were bright. Later, influenced by the art of Peking Opera facial makeup, it gradually became Beijing. Most of the faces in Cantonese opera have been lost. The face makeup of Cantonese Opera on display is a treasure donated by Wu Heng to preserve the early painting of xiasifu.
