The wishing tree in Lam village is located in Lam village, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong. The wishing tree at the entrance of the village is located in front of the memorial archway of Lam village. It is a huge pavilion with four or five tree trunks. The wish tree in the village is located at the right head of the village office, which is not the original wish tree. According to the information on Lin Cun's website, the wishing tree "looks colorful from afar, as if it grows out of strange flowers. Its predecessor was a camphor tree, with the God's throne attached to it. Due to its long history, its branches withered and became a heart tree." The scene showed that the tree trunk of Xu Yuan was young and the leaves were sparse, and the villagers were afraid that they could not bear the weight of the treasure, so they were surrounded by iron frames, which was obviously different from the above situation. According to the villagers, the original wishing tree collapsed in a typhoon years ago. What we see now is a new tree bought from the mainland, so its size is far less than that of the wishing tree outside the village. If we do not inquire, we will mistakenly think that the big wishing tree at the entrance of the village is the official wishing tree.
According to the villagers' explanation, the wishing tree in the village is the master of marriage, and the village entrance is the master of wealth and family. However, some people say that there is no such difference, just follow.
Ancient legend
There are many intriguing legends about the wishing tree.
One is that there is a good faith. After his son entered school, he did not make any progress. The good faith is that he carried his son to worship the Tongxin tree, and then he became wise and successful in his studies.
The other is the original wishing tree in the village, which is large and has a hole in the middle of the trunk. Because many people come to worship and burn incense, oil flows out from the hole. The good faith worships and sacrifices carelessly, which leads to a fire. Finally, although the fire is put out, the wishing tree does not fall. Before the tree died, it grew two big Bauhinia flowers by itself, growing very fast. Within a few days, the total volume of the two flowers was even larger than that of the whole tree, which surprised the villagers.
There are two legends, one is strange and the other is mysterious. Therefore, the four sides are good at believing, and they are attracted by the fame and popularity, and they also attract many foreign tourists. Because of the high efficiency of the vowers, the crowds are crowded during holidays or Spring Festival, and now they have become one of the tourist attractions in Hong Kong. In addition, there are two legends about Fengshui in Lin village
During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the villagers of Lin village thought that the geomantic omen of Lin village was defective. Because of the geomantic omen master's suggestion, they decided to choose a place to build the temple of heaven after heaven. However, Lin village was not rich, so they could not pay the construction fee halfway through the construction of the temple of heaven after heaven. Seeing that the temple building plan was about to be shelved, suddenly a couple of well-dressed and well-dressed men and women came, namely, Deng Zhanyi and his wife. They also know a little about feng shui, and find the defects of Feng Shui in Lin village. They think that the villagers can make up for the deficiency by building the temple. So they generously bear all the construction costs and help the villagers build the temple. This is the origin of the temple.
After a few years, a master Kenyu followed Longxue to lincun from Guangdong. At first, he praised the fengshui of lincun. After seeing it clearly, he couldn't help sighing and explained to the villagers: "the mountains here are so long and powerful that they should have rich families. But Longxue kept on here and turned to Yuen Long. Then there will be noble people in Yuen Long. A noble man passed by Lin village before, but he couldn't stay here. He turned to the West and arrived in Yuen Long. "
The above-mentioned legend of Fengshui in Lin village is as mysterious as the legend of wishing tree, and it is also not easy to verify whether it is true or false, because it is impossible to verify it at all.
gods
Lincun wishing tree is two big banyan trees. The two trees were regarded as gods by the local villagers, and lit incense candles at their roots to pray for blessings. Later, people made baodie, wrote their wishes and tied it with heavy objects (stone in early years, orange has been used in recent years). Then, after making a sincere wish to the tree, they threw it on the trunk of the tree. Those who do not fall down represent that the wish can come true. This custom has spread widely, attracting many Hong Kong residents and even foreign tourists to make wishes in Lin village, especially during the lunar new year.
Make a wish
Often at the entrance of Lin village, you can see many stalls selling treasure certificates, and hawkers are constantly Hawking them. At the end of the ten yuan baodie, a fresh orange is tied, so that Shanxin can borrow it and throw it into the tree. It was wrapped in colored paper and opened with yellow paper for a good letter to write the name and wishes. Inside it was a picture of the Heavenly Master to show the meaning of exorcism and treatment of ghosts. Shanxin wrote his wish and name, first burned incense to worship the uncle attached to the tree, and then threw an ultimatum to the tree. It's not difficult to throw an ultimatum for good faith. Even if a failure, as long as we make persistent efforts, the branch will always hook the treasure die. Some people succeed in one throw, while others are unlucky and lose many times. Although they continue to lose many times, they still lose many times. As a result, the fragile orange couldn't stand several twists and turns, so Shanxin had to declare its defeat and pay for the ultimatum to fight again.
The tree is full of gems, just like a colorful tree, which proves that there are not a few people who come to make a wish. On the fourth day of the year, it seems that most of the people who come to worship the trees are tourists outside the village. There are few villagers who offer sacrifices to their uncle or throw away treasure. It's easy to guess that the villagers may know that the so-called wishing tree is effective. It's nothing but a profit-making tool for businessmen. But this is not the case. There are other reasons.
According to the villagers, there is a temple of Empress Dowager beside the Township Office in lincun, and villagers also worship empress dowager, but there is no abnormality after worship. When people from outside the village come to worship, they can turn the world around and say that the queen of heaven has miraculous effect. For example, more than 30 years ago, there was a couple of overseas Chinese from Singapore who were in their thirties. They lost a lot of money in business and were on the verge of extinction. They came to Lin village to pray for a better business and promised to "donate money to God if business improves". After that, it turned into a rich man with its business expanding. The couple, who did not want to be named, donated a large amount of sesame oil money to Tianhou temple in Lin village every year by check. In 1967, Tianhou temple was rebuilt, and the couple joined hands with the Antiquities and monuments office to bear all the expenses. Although they live far away in Singapore, they still keep in touch with Lin village.

Lin village wishing tree is located in Lin village, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is a famous wishing resort in Hong Kong. It is located in the side of the temple of heaven after built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. As the wishing tree is often entangled by gems, it becomes quite vulnerable. On February 12, 2005, one of the wishing trees was finally overloaded, and one of the main branches collapsed, causing many injuries. After that, the authorities explicitly prohibited throwing treasure on tree trunks. Wooden trellis were set up for visitors to hang treasure on tree trunks so that the tree could recuperate. However, there are still a small number of tourists who ignore this persuasion and still throw the precious ultimatum on the wishing tree.
The government has made a lot of efforts to save the wishing tree, but because of the serious damage to the tree, there is still no sign of recovery even though it has done its best to conserve it. Experts have inspected the tree and found that the tree has no new air roots and few green leaves. They conclude that the tree is no longer able to recover its old shadow and deep roots, but is aging and will die in five to 10 years.
Introducing new trees
On March 30, 2008, a "new" wishing tree was introduced from Zengcheng, which was rooted 10 meters away from the old tree. The new sycamore is a fine leaved banyan tree, 60 to 70 years old and 20 feet high, pruned into 23 buttresses. Meanwhile, the Township Office will spend HK $3 million to build supporting facilities, including a wish stone and a wish Plaza, which are expected to be open to the public by the end of the year. In the new wishing tree, Shanxin is also forbidden to throw a treasure die to the tree. An iron frame will be placed next to the tree for people to hang a treasure die.
