Tokyo Gallery
After years of planning, Mr. Tian Hata finally realized his dream in 2002 and established the experimental project "Beijing Tokyo Art Project (BTAP)" of Tokyo Gallery in Beijing 798 Art District. In addition, Tokyo Gallery is also the first overseas first-class art institution to settle in 798. Mr. Yamamoto, the father of Mr. hathathata, is the top pioneer of Asian art world in the first half of the century. In the early 1950s, he established Tokyo Gallery, which supported the development of Japanese painter Mr. Bai fayixiong, introduced famous western artists such as Yves Klein and Lucio Fontana to the Japanese, and also recommended some Chinese artists such as Xu Bing (whose works were exhibited in Smithsonian Institute in the United States) and Cai Guoqiang (recipient of Venice Biennale in 1999).

Introduction in English
Located in Northeast Beijing, BTAP (Beijing Tokyo Art Projects) is re-using a 400m2 old, abandonedEast German-build Bauhaus munitions factory that was built in the early 1950s. After years of planning, in 2002 Yukihito Tabata established Beijing Tokyo Art Projects which can be seen as an experimental project of Tokyo Gallery. His father, Takashi Yamamoto, has been at the forefront of the Asian art world for over half a century. He founded Tokyo Gallery in the 1950s, which helped to launch the career of Japanese painter Kazuo Shiraga, introduced to Japan famous Western artists like Yves Klein and Lucio Fontana, Chinese artists like Xubing, whose works have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute, CaiguoQiang, the recipient of the 1999 Venice Biennale International.
With the challenging mission to build a cross cultural bridge, Tokyo Gallery+BTAP is focusing on young promising Asian artists- Chinese, Japanese, Korean and others. Since its opening BTAP has organized over 35 shows on architecture, sculpture, painting, installation and performance art. The short-term goal of the gallery- to collaborate with both international and Chinese young art critics, curators and artists, has been accomplished. In long-term, Tokyo Gallery+BTAP is continuing the work started by Mr.Yukihito Tabata on expanding the network among different Asian cities, including Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Taipei.
