Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University, directly under Tsinghua University, is a high-level talent training base and scientific and technological innovation base established by Tsinghua University and Shenzhen city. Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University is a high-level talent training base and scientific and technological innovation base jointly established by Tsinghua University and Shenzhen city. It is the experimental field of Tsinghua University's educational reform and an important part of creating a world-class University.
Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School was founded in April 2001. In September 2014, Tsinghua University, University of California, Berkeley and Shenzhen municipal government signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly establish Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen college relying on Tsinghua University Graduate School. In November 2016, Shenzhen municipal government and Qinghua University signed an agreement to establish Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen College in the offices of Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School and Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen college On the basis of science and technology, build Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School.
As of December 2017, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University covers an area of 200600 square meters, with a building area of 183900 square meters. It has three training categories of doctoral, academic master and professional master, covering 19 first-class disciplines, 148 full-time teachers and 3027 full-time postgraduates, including 2683 master students and 344 doctoral students.

On October 14, 2000, the Shenzhen municipal government and Tsinghua University signed an agreement on the establishment of Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School.
On June 8, 2001, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University was established.
In December 2002, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University established the engineering department, the information department, the management department and the arts and Sciences Department.
In October 2003, Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School entered Shenzhen University Town.
In March 2004, the Department of life sciences was established in the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University.
In 2010, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University integrated and adjusted the five departments into six departments: life and health, energy and environment, information science and technology, logistics and transportation, advanced manufacturing, social science and management; at the same time, it planned to build the Department of marine science and technology; and planned to build four innovation bases, which were approved by the University.
In July 2011, the Department of Oceanography of Tsinghua University's Shenzhen Graduate School was established.
In January 2012, the Hong Kong and Macao research center of Tsinghua University settled in Shenzhen Graduate School; in April, the Hospital Management Research Institute of Tsinghua University settled in Shenzhen Graduate School.

In November 2016, Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Municipal People's government signed an agreement in Guangzhou to build Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Campus on the basis of running Tsinghua University's Shenzhen Graduate School and Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen college.
On December 1, 2018, the signing ceremony of the comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement between Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Municipal People's government was held in Shenzhen. The two sides will jointly build a world-class Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University, and build a higher environmental research center relying on the international graduate school. Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University will integrate Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University and Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen college to carry out postgraduate education.

Adhering to the scientific research concept of "top sky, site and talent cultivation", Shenzhen Graduate School has built a number of national, provincial and ministerial key laboratories or sub centers, Shenzhen key scientific research institutions, joint laboratories with overseas universities, provincial and ministerial industry university research alliance and some university enterprise cooperation research bases. Over the past 16 years, the accumulated research funds of Shenzhen Graduate School have exceeded 1.5 billion yuan, and the per capita full-time teachers have exceeded one million yuan; more than 2452 SCI papers and 13282 EI papers have been published, and articles have been published in nature and other international authoritative journals; 7 national awards and 71 provincial and ministerial awards have been obtained; more than 1439 patents have been applied, and 659 patents have been authorized.

In 2011, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University actively explored a new mode of industry university research cooperation in scientific research and technology development, combining scientific and technological innovation with capital operation, serving urban innovation and industrial restructuring with technology transfer, and promoting the transformation of regional development mode. The Institute has set up a technology transfer office and established a new energy technology transfer center in cooperation with the Baoan District government. In 2011, the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University cooperated with Siberian University of technology in Russia, National University of Galway in Ireland, higher school of electronic and power engineering in Rouen, France, Kyushu University in Japan, Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and other well-known universities to jointly train 252 graduate students. In cooperation with the University of Southampton and the international network science laboratory alliance, the Institute held the network science and industry seminar of the annual academic conference of the international network science alliance.
