Qinhuangdao campus of Northeast Petroleum University is located in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, which is an important part of Northeast Petroleum University.

Qinhuangdao campus of Northeast Petroleum University was founded in 1985. In 1988, Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum Institute was officially established. On April 1, 2010, the Ministry of Education approved Daqing Petroleum University to be renamed Northeast Petroleum University, and Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum University was renamed Qinhuangdao branch of Northeast Petroleum University. On April 18, 2018, Qinhuangdao campus of Northeast Petroleum University was renamed Qinhuangdao campus of Northeast Petroleum University.

As of May 2019, the campus has 7 teaching departments, 13 functional and auxiliary departments, 23 Higher Vocational Majors, 291 teaching staff, 229 full-time teachers and 5716 full-time students.

Historical evolution

Qinhuangdao campus of Northeast Petroleum University was founded in 1985, initially known as "science and technology research and Training Department of Daqing Petroleum University".

In 1984, in order to stabilize the teaching staff, attract high-level talents, establish an open "window" and ensure the long-term stable development of the school, Daqing Petroleum University decided to establish a branch in an open coastal city. After comprehensive analysis and demonstration, the school decided to build the branch in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province.

In June 1985, Hebei Provincial People's Government approved Qinhuangdao Municipal People's government and Daqing Petroleum Institute to establish Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum Institute in Qinhuangdao city.

In 1986, the construction of the campus of Qinhuangdao branch began.

In 1988, Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum Institute was officially established.

Higher vocational and Technical College of Daqing Petroleum University

In December 1998, in order to meet the needs of higher education reform and strengthen the training of applied talents, the people's Education Bureau of CNPC approved the establishment of "Higher Vocational and Technical College of Daqing Petroleum University".

In April 1999, the higher vocational and technical college was formally established in Qinhuangdao branch, keeping the name of "Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum University" unchanged, and adding the school name of "Higher Vocational and Technical College of Daqing Petroleum University".

On November 29, 2002, in order to meet the needs of the development of the branch, the Party committee of the school decided to abolish the former Qinhuangdao branch and higher vocational and technical college, and set up two parallel institutions: the applied technology college and the Qinhuangdao campus management office.

In March 2003, the school officially set up the branch as two institutions, namely "Applied Technology College of Daqing Petroleum University" and "Qinhuangdao Campus Management Office of Daqing Petroleum University", which are respectively responsible for the teaching and management of the branch.

On November 10, 2009, the school abolished the school of Applied Technology and the campus management office, and restored the establishment of Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum University.

On April 1, 2010, the Ministry of Education approved Daqing Petroleum University to be renamed Northeast Petroleum University, and Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum University was renamed Qinhuangdao branch of Northeast Petroleum University.

By the end of 2017, the campus teachers had presided over 1 national key basic research project (973 Plan), 1 project of other national ministries and commissions (scientific research funds of 1 million), 13 projects of National Natural Science Foundation, 1 project of science and Technology Management Department of state-owned oil company, 19 projects of provincial (ministerial) level and provincial fund, and more than 110 scientific research projects of municipal (bureau) level. A total of more than 15 million yuan has been paid for scientific research; more than 800 academic papers have been published, and 40 papers have been collected by SCI, EI and ISTP; 154 national patents have been applied, including 2 invention patents.
