Truth University

Aletheia University (AU), referred to as "truth", is a private university founded by Taiwan Presbyterian Church in Northern Taiwan, formerly known as Tamsui School of business administration. Aletheia's school name comes from the Greek meaning of "truth". In foreign countries, there are Harvard and Yale, whose motto is veritas. It is the first college and University in the history of education in Taiwan.

On March 9, 1872, the Presbyterian Church of Canada announced that Mackay, a teacher of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, landed in Tamsui and selected the current site (today's Tamsui campus of truth University) to build the school building for missionary, educational and medical purposes. After the completion of the school in 1882, he named it Oxford college in order to thank the residents of Oxford County, Ontario, for their donation.

In 1965, Tanshui Business Administration College was established in the original site. In 1994, it was transformed into Tanshui Business Administration College. In 1999, it was officially transformed into truth university with the approval of the Ministry of education. At present, there are seven colleges of humanities, mathematics, finance and economics, management, tourism, Chinese and knowledge economy, including three research institutes of mathematics, management science and finance and master's classes of religious teaching department, 30 departments and six in-service classes of two-year technology department. Historical evolution

On March 9, 1872, Rev. Dr. George Leslie Mackay, a missionary of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, landed in Tamsui for missionary, educational and medical work. We decided to build the school building on the hill of Tanshui Fort (the current site of truth University) and personally planned and supervised the construction.

After its completion in 1882, the school was named Oxford college in memory of the donation of its hometown, Oxford County, Ontario. The Chinese name of the school was Li Xuetang college, and later generations called it Oxford School. In addition to theological and biblical principles, the courses taught at that time included history, ethics, Chinese characters, Chinese history of sociology, astronomy, geography, geology, plants, animals, minerals of natural science, medical concepts, anatomy and clinical practice of natural science.

In 1959, the founder of truth college, the Presbyterian Church of Northern Taiwan, decided to set up a university at the original site of Oxford School in Tanshui in order to inherit Dr. Mackay's contributions to Taiwan's culture, education and medical treatment.

In August 1965, it was approved by the Ministry of education of Taiwan authorities to set up "private Tanshui Business Administration College"

The English name of the school is "amsui Institute of business administration", which enrolls three-year and five-year junior college students. The founder appointed Mr. Cai Peihuo as the chairman and Dr. Peng Shuyuan as the president.

In April 1971, the board of directors appointed Dr. ye nengzhen as the second president, and changed the English name of the school to Tamsui Oxford college.

In June 1991, in order to develop into a comprehensive university, we purchased 18.7738 hectares of campus land in Madou District of Tainan City as a branch, and 28 hectares of campus land together with 9.339 hectares of campus land in Danshui district.

On August 1, 1994, it was transformed into a four-year independent college, named Tamsui Oxford University College.

In November 1996, the Matou branch was completed with a two-year technical group.

In February 1997, the spring class was enrolled for the first time.

On August 1, 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of education and renamed "truth University"

The English name of the school is Aletheia University. It is divided into seven colleges: Humanities, mathematics, finance and economics, management, tourism, Chinese and knowledge economy. Pastor Chen Qingzhong is the first chairman of the board. The current chairman is pastor Zheng Xianren. In 1996, truth University invested more than 1 billion yuan to set up a "Matou campus" in Matou Town, Tainan, covering an area of 21 ․ 7 hectares. The school emblem of truth retains the original design of the school emblem. The image of ox head represents the spirit of the founding of Oxford School, the predecessor of the school.
