The school, formerly known as Taipei Medical College, was founded on June 1, 1960 with the donation of medical experts and enthusiastic medical educators Mr. Hu Shuiwang and Mr. Xu Qiantian. At the beginning of the school, the school was full of barren paddy fields and lack of teaching and research resources. In the past 48 years, in the extremely difficult environment, Beiyi people have gone through various challenges and cultivated 28000 excellent medical professionals with strong resilience in the small area of the eastern district.
With the efforts of past presidents, the university has expanded from three departments and two specialties to five colleges, thirteen departments and thirteen research institutes, namely, medical college, stomatology college, pharmacy college, nursing college and School of public health and nutrition. Since it was renamed Taipei Medical University in 2000, it has been striving to become a world-class medical university.
In 2008, Professor Qiu Wenda took the post of president, expanding the development pattern of Taipei Medical University, breaking through the tradition of small and beautiful school, breaking through the cocoon, pursuing innovation, taking excellence, strengthening quality as the goal, internationalization as the benchmark, attracting first-class talents, and comprehensively improving the teaching, research, service, medical treatment and campus environment.
In terms of teaching, as a metropolitan medical university, the educational philosophy of Taipei Medical University is to teach students medical professional knowledge, pay attention to liberal arts education and return to people-oriented teaching. In such a concept, since 2006, the Ministry of education for three consecutive years of teaching excellence program subsidies, recognized. In order to implement the ideal of combining medical science and technology with humanities education and deepen humanities and general education, we take the general education of professional education and the specialization of general education as the two main axes, and continue to implement the goal of teaching quality and performance.
In terms of research, top research is an indispensable part of world-class universities. In the past few years, the research level of Taipei Medical University has made great progress. In order to continue to move towards the top 500 universities in the world, we are striving for large-scale and integrated research projects, attracting outstanding talents and teams at home and abroad, increasing research awards, and establishing cooperative relations with world-class research institutions.
In the past years, the results of performance evaluation show that Taipei Medical University is one of the excellent universities in the industry university cooperation, and its achievements are obvious to all. The R & D achievements and intellectual property of the school are transferred to the industry through technology, which not only greatly improves the competitiveness of the enterprise, but also effectively outputs and manages the intellectual property of the school, so as to achieve a win-win situation.
In terms of service, Taipei Medical University has long attached great importance to students' feedback and care to the society. The medical service team composed of teachers and students of Taipei Medical University has traveled all over the remote areas of Taiwan, and even traveled to overseas free clinics to let students experience the world outside textbooks and show their love and care for life with professional skills. Through the barracks and activities again and again, the heart of service of the students of Beijing Medical University has been inherited from time to time. While cultivating countless excellent medical talents, they also have a sense of care for the people, social responsibility and life.
In terms of medical care, with the growth of teaching and research, the medical system of the university is also growing. Taipei Medical University has three affiliated hospitals, namely Affiliated Hospital, Wanfang hospital and Shuanghe hospital, with nearly 3000 beds. It is the largest medical system of medical colleges in Taipei. Taipei Medical University integrates the resources of the school and the three affiliated hospitals. It has complete equipment and space in the field of clinical practice and clinical skills training. It is also committed to serving the neighboring communities and ensuring the health of Chinese people.

Through Fenglin Avenue, humanities and art corridor, library, school history hall and other facilities, a pleasant and distinctive campus landscape will be built.
The school has a good foundation of software and hardware for many years. In order to expand its internationalization, it has attracted world-class teachers, recruited international students, encouraged teachers and students to study abroad, and cooperated with foreign universities and medical institutions. Looking forward to the future, Taipei Medical University is ready to develop.
