A temple built in blessed land
Master Rongqiu, the founder of the mountain, was born in Bobai, Guangxi. When he was a child, he became a monk in Zhouhua temple in the county. He was very good at debating. He studied Zen at Jiangtian temple and Gaoyu temple in Jinshan, and later received precepts at Longchang temple in Baohua mountain in Nanjing, belonging to Huanglong sect of Linji school. After studying in 1924, he returned to Guangdong and co founded Nanhua Buddhist College at Hualin temple in Guangzhou. He invited master Baojing and master Maofeng to be lecturers. The Enlightenment of Bodhisattvas in the night dream is to find a good place to build a Taoist temple and promote Buddhism. Master Rongqiu then came to Hong Kong from the mainland in 1928 and first came to Meixiu jingshe in Tai Po to fight for seven Buddhas. Later, because of his contact with Fu Ke and Mao Feng Shi, master Mao Feng was setting up the East Putuo temple in laowei, Tsuen Wan. Master Rong Qiu found the present site of Furong mountain in Tsuen Wan to build the temple, and got the help of his disciples Mao Qing and Mao Chang.
During the period of temple construction, the master personally led his disciples and made great efforts to break the stone in the mountain. In three years, he went through all kinds of hardships. At first, only two or three thatched cottages were built. Later, with the help of various parties, the pagoda Hall of Fu Tu and the two chamber dormitory were built. In 1932, the putu hall was completed and named Zhulin Buddhist temple. It was the first time to start the precepts. The abbot of Zhouhua temple in Bobai County, Mr. Sheng Lin, was invited to teach the precepts. Master Rongqiu's empty position made master Shenglin the first abbot, and then passed on to old monk Jianliang, and old monk Rongqiu became the third generation abbot. During the Second World War, Hong Kong was occupied. Master Rongqiu led his disciples to open up the soil for cultivation, self-sufficiency, and struggling through the difficulties. After Chongguang, the mage held two water and land law meetings for the dead. In 1949, the monks went south to avoid chaos, and the master opened a convenient door for all who came to receive food and lodging.
Master Rongqiu is always willing to create a grand and solemn hall for Zhulin temple to accommodate believers, worship Buddha and chant sutras. In 1970, the land policy of the Hong Kong government was changed. The master bought the site of today's main hall at a premium and laid the foundation for construction in 1975. However, the master forgot his body for the sake of Dharma and was exhausted. In 1976, he gave up and returned to the West. Following his will, his disciples completed various projects in six years and completed Kaiguang in 1982. It was the largest temple in Hong Kong at that time.
The current abbot of Zhulin temple is master Yizhao. Master Yizhao became a monk in 1941. He was ordained in Nanhua temple in 1944. He once followed old monk Xuyun and listened to the teaching advice. Later, he came to Hong Kong, where Zhuo Xi first worked in Guyan Jingyuan in Shatin, and then took over as the abbot in Zhulin Buddhist temple. Master Yizhao often traveled all over the country to give lectures, and the Dharma was widely used.
