Historical evolution
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Yongchun, the successor of Christianity, the Presbyterian Church in England and the American Israeli American church in the United States all founded schools or private schools. In 1898, the Presbyterian Church and Yongchun overseas Chinese donated money to establish Yuxian primary school, which was the predecessor of Yuxian middle school. The following year, pastor wang Duoma (American) of the American Israel Association donated 1000 yuan from J.B. Hardy, who bought land at the end of Wuli street to build the school and founded Xueli school, the predecessor of Chongxian middle school. With the progress of society, the two schools continued to develop and grow.
In 1902, the Presbyterian church founded the Yuxian girls' school. In 1921, it was changed into Yude girls' school. In 1928, Yuxian was added to junior high school. In 1930, a new high school was set up and Yude girls' school was merged. At the end of 1933, Yuxian middle school was closed and merged the next year. The school has added poor students to work and study. In 1904, the school was divided into middle school, primary school, normal school and Taoist school according to the different levels of students. It also set up craft courses, hired technicians to teach crafts, and had various subjects such as shoemaking and weaving, which made students receive vocational training. It was very popular and changed its name to Huamei school. In 1908, students were suspended from classes for one semester because of plague.
In the first year of Xuantong (1909), due to financial difficulties, the Department of Taoism of the Ministry of normal education stopped running. In 1909, the name of the school was changed to Yongchun Chongshi west school, which was different from Fanyi school and private school.
In 1914, it was renamed Yongchun Chongshi Zhongxi school. The school used to accept only boys, not girls. Funded by the American Israel Association and donated by local people, the school was built, and Chongde women's school, Chongzheng women's school and Chongzhen kindergarten were set up. This is the beginning of Yongchun's women's school and early childhood education.
In 1921, a class of simple subjects was set up to cultivate primary school teaching talents. In the 12th year, junior high schools and senior high schools will be added, and the new educational system formulated by the Ministry of education will be implemented, that is, three years for senior middle schools, three years for junior middle schools, two years for primary schools, and four years for junior middle schools.
In 1924, due to the decrease of funds allocated by the American Israel Association, the high school department was closed. In 1925, the school board was established, and the administration of the whole school was transferred from the church to the school board.
In the 20th year of the Republic of China, Chongde women's school was merged into Chongshi, and Chongzheng women's school was first merged into Chongde, so Chongzhen kindergarten was changed into Chongshi kindergarten. So far, Chongshi school consists of three parts: middle school, primary school and kindergarten.
In 1932, the school was approved by the Education Department of Fujian Province. It was named private Chongshi junior high school with primary school and kindergarten.
In 1934, Yuxian middle school was merged with Chongshi middle school. May 10 marks the 35th anniversary of Chongshi junior high school.
During the July 7th Anti Japanese War, the Japanese bombed the cities in the mainland of China. Yongchun County and the area near Wuli street were also bombed many times. In order to ensure the safety of teachers and students, he moved to sukeng in the autumn of 1939 and moved back to the original site in August 1942. After eight years of Anti Japanese War and three years of liberation war, the teachers and students of the school struggled hard. With the support of enthusiastic educators, the school expanded and the number of students increased. In the autumn of 1948, a new high school was set up and renamed private Chongxian middle school. There are more than 400 students in class 7 of junior high school, and 100 students in class 2 of senior high school. Most of the teachers are excellent for a while, and many of them are famous teachers in middle school.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the school continued to develop with the care of the people's government. In order to run junior high school well, the senior high school department belongs to Yongchun middle school. In the autumn of 1952, it was returned to the public and renamed Yongchun No.2 Middle School and Huayan primary school. In 1954, cadres were sent to the school. In 1958, it was merged into Yongchun No.1 middle school. Yongchun, the oldest and largest private middle school, completed its historical mission.
After the reform and opening up, education has been placed in the strategic position of priority development. Alumni at home and abroad and local educators from all walks of life propose to resume Chongxian middle school. In 1991, the 12th National People's Congress of Yongchun passed a motion to restore Chongxian middle school. Alumni Liang Piyun and Liang Liangdou donated money to build school buildings. The county people's government decided to resume Chongxian middle school and merge Wulijie middle school into the county.
Wulijie middle school also has an extraordinary history. In the autumn of 1965, Wulijie agricultural middle school was founded in Putou, Wulijie. The school puts forward the school running policy of "carrying out the education system of part-time work and part-time study, and cultivating talents who are capable of both literature and martial arts". In addition to learning cultural knowledge, students also actively participate in production and labor practice. Many students later become rural grassroots cadres and technical backbones.
During the "Cultural Revolution", Wulijie agricultural middle school changed to a junior high school and became the branch school of Yongchun No.1 middle school. Many old teachers of No.1 middle school used to teach in this branch school. Therefore, despite the turbulent times, the quality of education in the branch school was considerable.
In the autumn of 1981, the branch became an independent junior high school, named Wulijie middle school. At that time, the children of the garrison troops also studied nearby. Most of the teachers in Wulijie middle school were young people, and the school was full of vitality.
