anecdote
Guilin, where Li Zongren grew up, has left many relics of him, especially the official residence.
Li Zongren's official residence is not far from Wenming road from the department store on Zhongshan middle road. This is a rare architectural courtyard of the Republic of China, covering an area of 4000 square meters. The color tone of the building is orange yellow. The Chinese style roof, the main building, the auxiliary building and the family building on both sides of the building are decorated with a ring of red brick walls under the eaves, red dotted with yellow, solemn and generous. Around the building are neat and uniform Holly belts and lawns, a few flowers and trees at random, and occasionally a few birds dart out and sing gently.
The official residence was completed in April 1948 when Li Zongren became the vice president of the former national government, so it is also known as "Guilin presidential palace". People often say that it is a pleasure to move, but the completion of the residence did not bring joy and glory to Li Zongren. On April 23, 1949, he left Nanjing and returned to Guilin, the longest time he lived in his official residence. In the conference room of the main building, he met with Guangxi democratic personages and student representatives who strongly demanded peace. In the reception room on the second floor, he did not say a word, and let the senior members of Guangxi Department quarrel fiercely about "war" and "peace". At the moment of historical choice, he was at a loss.
After all, Li Zongren was Li Zongren. Although he had no definite opinions in the face of the general trend of history, he made a decision here to let Chiang Kai Shek know his purpose: to leave Chiang Kai Shek and stay away from power. On November 9, 1949, he took his wife's belt to bid farewell to the official residence, which lasted only 50 days, and went to live in the United States. Li Zongren is still Li Zongren. He even wrote a glorious chapter of his own history in his later years and returned to the motherland. On March 14, 1966, standing in his official residence, he repeated to the local officials, "I don't think so anymore." But in the face of Tao Zhu's Fengyu bridge, which is specially built for his wife's convenience of dining at the back, the feeling of love surged into my heart: "I'm on the right way back."
Li Zongren and official residence
Mr. Li Zongren (1891-1969), a famous patriot, the acting president of the former national government, the commander of the national defense war, the law protection movement, the northern expedition, and the Taierzhuang war, was the leader of the Guangxi faction during the period of the Republic of China. He returned from the United States in 1965, and his pioneering work occupied an important page in the great cause of reunification. From April 1948 to November 1949, Li Zongren returned to Guangxi and lived here. On March 14, 1966, Mr. Li Zongren returned to his official residence. Visiting Li Zongren's official residence and former residence, you can feel his ups and downs and complicated historical career; the journey of returning to the motherland; the furnishings, home life and the end of his political career of a former acting president of the national government; and his legendary life of "young army, late life". In his former residence, there are interesting and mysterious folk Fengshui theories and philosophy, as well as colorful folk culture in northern Guangxi.
Protection and development
Since the establishment of Li Zongren cultural relics museum in 1991, the State Administration of cultural relics and governments at all levels have allocated more than 4 million yuan to renovate the official residence and former residence. By the end of May this year, the "Sanjin living room" in Liangjiang's former residence had been restored. In recent years, the walls, decadent floors and tile beams of the official residence have been repaired and replaced, and the courtyard and interior have also been restored according to their original appearance. The official residences and former residences, which basically preserve their original appearance, have become an important part of Guilin's historical and cultural city and one of the main scenic spots for citizens to visit.
However, due to lack of funds or other reasons, there are still some problems in the collection, protection and development of cultural relics. According to statistics, in the past five or six years, the number of Chinese and foreign visitors to official residences and former residences has been around 20000 every year. Most of the visitors are people over 40 years old with certain life experience. This reflects two problems: one is the lack of packaging of cultural relics. All articles
