Gugeng site, 1.5km to the east of SHANGPAI Town, Feixi County, is a platform shaped site with a total area of about 20000 square meters. In 1983 and 1987, Anhui Provincial Institute of cultural relics and Archaeology excavated twice, with a total area of 450 square meters. According to the stratigraphic overpressure relationship, it can be divided into early, middle and late stages. The early pottery was mainly red pottery with sand, and a small amount of red pottery was coated with red clothes. Living utensils mainly include Ding, Dou, pot, can, Zun, Zhen, cup, etc. In the middle period, red pottery was still the main type, with more tripod and ring foot pottery and less flat bottomed pottery. The main shapes are ding, Dou, pot, bowl, bowl, plate, bird head ear jar, cup, etc. In the late period, red pottery was still dominant, while black pottery increased significantly. The main utensils were tripod, bean, pot, steamer, bowl, basin, bowl and so on. Production tools include stone shovel, stone arrowhead, stone knife, pottery spinning wheel, etc. In addition, it was found that the rectangular house site was built on the flat ground, and the ground was smooth and hard after being baked by fire. There are cylindrical holes around, arranged in order. There is a rectangular pottery stove in the middle of the room. Beside the stove are pottery tripod, beans, basin and grate. It is the first complete Neolithic site found in Anhui Province.
Gugeng site
Gugeng site is located 1.5km to the east of SHANGPAI Town, Feixi County, Anhui Province. It is a Neolithic site with a platform shape, 350 meters long from east to west and 65 to 180 meters wide from north to south, covering a total area of about 20000 square meters.
In May 1983, with the approval of the central Ministry of culture and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a scientific excavation was carried out by the Anhui Institute of cultural relics and archaeology.
In May 1998, Anhui provincial government approved and announced it as a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.
